Peoria Chiefs Notebook – 2026 Week 11

The High-A Peoria Chiefs went 2-4, dropping three out of the last five at South Bend before losing the home series opener to Dayton. Tre Richardson hit .500 in his final Midwest League week before his Double-A promotion.



Wednesday June 10 – Cubs 5, Chiefs 3 (seven innings)

The Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the series after a rain-shortened seven inning game Wednesday.

Jesus Baez led off the contest with a home run. He and Jalin Flores provided multi-hit performances for Peoria.

Nate Dohm started and gave up two runs over four innings, with two walks and four strikeouts. Jawilme Ramirez took the loss after yielding three runs on three hits, with two walks and one strikeout, in just ⅔ of an inning. Jose Davila threw 1 ⅓ innings of scoreless relief, with three strikeouts.

The offense totaled three runs on seven hits, two walks and 12 strikeouts. The pitching gave up five runs on eight hits, five walks and eight strikeouts. Peoria committed one error.

Thursday June 11 – Chiefs 16 at Cubs 7 (seven Innings)

The Chiefs offense was humming on all cylinders Thursday, despite the game only being seven innings.

Tre Richardson

Tre Richardson stayed scalding hot, reaching in all five plate appearances, with two doubles. Baez and Anyelo Encarnacion hit three-run homers, and Kross had a solo shot. Jose Suarez had three hits as well for Peoria.

Tanner Franklin took the ball first and gave up five runs over three innings. Bobby Olsen earned the win in a perfect inning of relief, and Ty Van Dyke gave up two runs over two innings with two strikeouts.

The offense totaled 16 runs on 14 hits, six walks and four strikeouts. The pitching gave up seven runs on nine hits, two walks and six strikeouts. Peoria committed one error in this game.

Friday June 12 – Chiefs 3 at Cubs 1

The Chiefs evened the series at two games apiece after a great all around pitching performance Friday.

The Chiefs scored two in the first on a Josh Kross single. Jack Gurevitch led the way with two hits, including a double.

Leonel Sequera

Leonel Sequera started and gave up one run on five hits, three walks, and seven strikeouts over 4 ⅓ innings. Jason Savacool, Nolan Sparks, and Patrick Galle combined for 4 ⅔ innings of scoreless relief, with seven strikeouts. Savacool earned the win, and Galle received a save.

The offense totaled three runs on four hits, eight walks, and 15 strikeouts. The pitching gave up one run on five hits, six walks, and 14 strikeouts. Peoria committed one error.

Saturday June 13 – Cubs 6, Chiefs 4

A five-run first inning by the Cubs put this game away before it even got going for the Chiefs.

Richardson provided the only multi-hit game for Peoria, with a double and a home run. Baez also went deep,

Jacob Odle started and had a rough outing. He only went ⅔ of an inning, giving up five runs on three hits, with three walks. The bullpen was excellent, however. Ruben Menes went 2 ⅓ scoreless, Worley went 1 ⅓ scoreless, and Freeburger also hurled 2 scoreless innings.

The offense totaled four runs on eight hits, no walks and eight strikeouts. The pitching gave up six runs on nine hits, six walks and five strikeouts. Peoria did not commit an error.

Sunday June 14 – Cubs 10, Chiefs 3

The Chiefs dropped the series 2-4 after not being able to keep the South Bend bats at bay again.

Josh Kross reached in all four at bats, with three singles and a walk. Flores went deep for Peoria.

Blake Aita started but only went ⅔ of an inning. He gave up two runs on one hit, with two walks. Bobby Olsen followed him up with three innings, charged with just one run. Galle took the loss after yielding three runs in his inning of work.

The offense totaled three runs on seven hits, six walks and 13 strikeouts. The pitching gave up 10 runs on 12 hits, six walks and 10 strikeouts. Peoria committed one error.

Tuesday June 16 – Dragons 8 at Chiefs 2

The visiting Dragons scored seven runs in the final three innings to take the series opener.

Cho and Suarez provided multi hit performances. Cho and Gurevitch doubled while Flores hit a home run.

Yhoiker Fajardo

Yhoiker Fajardo took the hill first, and despite taking the loss, pitched very well. He gave up one run on two hits over five innings, with six strikeouts. However, Freeburger gave up four runs in his inning of relief.

The offense totaled two runs on six hits, three walks and seven strikeouts. The pitching gave up eight runs on nine hits, six walks and 12 strikeouts. Peoria committed two errors.

Who’s Hot?

Tre Richardson III: The infielder was finally called up to Double-A Springfield after another phenomenal week during which he went 7-for-14 with a home run, more walks (3) than strikeouts (2), and four stolen bases over just four games.

Jason Savacool

Jason Savacool: The reliever has given up just one run over his last four appearances, with nine strikeouts.

Who’s Cold?

Cade McGee: The infielder went 0 for his last 17, with 11 strikeouts in five games this week.

Cam Nickens: The outfielder went 1-for-13 this week, with seven strikeouts.

Tanner Franklin: The prospect righty has a 6.23 ERA over his last two starts.

The Chiefs are 32-32, in third place, eight games behind the South Bend Cubs.
