On Thursday night in Lakeland, the Palm Beach Cardinals blanked the Flying Tigers to complete a four-game sweep of Detroit’s Florida State League affiliate.
Leading the three Cardinals pitchers who combined on a four-hitter was 20-year-old starter Rob Kaminsky. The lefty struck out four in two innings, giving up three hits and a walk. A rain delay of almost three hours then knocked Kaminsky from the game.
Before he exited, however, The Cardinal Nation’s third-ranked prospect twice faced right fielder Steven Moya, Detroit’s number two prospect according to our peers at TigsTown.com.
Scouting analyst James Chipman of Tigs Town was at the game, noting that Kaminsky “carved up Moya twice.” In both at-bats, the left-handed hitter watched strike three being called.
Chipman’s scouting report of Kaminsky is summed up here: “LHP Rob Kaminsky H 3/4 slot; quick arm; max effort delivery w/ LOUD grunting; FB 88-91 T94 explodes. Tight power curveball 79-81.”
