The St. Louis Cardinals have two league Players of the Week for the period of June 10-16. Both are in A-ball and both were drafted in 2023, Peoria’s Dakota Harris and Palm Beach’s Chase Davis.
Peoria Chiefs infielder Dakota Harris is the Midwest League Player of the Week. The 22-year-old led the High-A league in batting average (.556), OBP (.600), slugging (1.111), home runs (three), RBI (eight) and total bases (20) for the week as the Chiefs won five of six.
The Cardinals’ 2023 11th round draft pick from Oklahoma has an active career-best nine-game hitting streak and is batting .296 for the season.
Palm Beach Cardinals outfielder Chase Davis is the Florida State League Player of the Week. The 22-year-old led the Low-A league in batting average (.545), OBP (.706), slugging (1.273) and OPS (1.979), with four extra base hits, five runs scored and six walks.
The 2023 1st round pick is slashing .324/.465/.735/1.200 in June with eight extra base hits and 13 RBI in 11 games.
This represents a major turnaround for The Cardinal Nation’s 11th-ranked prospect, who over the first two months in his return to the level, was batting just .184 with two home runs and 47 strikeouts in 141 at-bats.
