First of all I hope everyone is well- been a while.

You see his stat line – he’s an 11th round pick so he has no significant trade value until he produces at the mlb level. He just turned 25.

I don’t think it’s a question with this team about whose ABs he’s taking- should he be called up asap? Especially a spot over Fermin?

I think Church should get a chance. Maybe he’s AAAA, but we’ll never know until we play him. I will defer to any minor leaguer who has a hot bat. Lord knows our outfield has not produced. Especially with Nootbaar out, who I wonder if Nootbaar will turn out like Gorman and Walker.

His biggest problem is that he hits LH. We have so many LH OF’s in this organization it is mind boggling. If he was a RH OF he would probably already be in STL, which is why Hampson has a job.

GSCOTTAR is absolutely right. Koperniak had the same problem last season. We already have VSII and Siani as left-handed center fielders. Church would be third choice now. This does allow Siani to be traded. Obviously he won’t fetch much. But he’s worth more than the proverbial bucket of balls. And then Church could be next guy up. But he still wouldn’t get on the 25-man unless someone gets hurt or he can sustain the same level of hitting for maybe 2 more months.

As a side note, Baker has also gotten pretty hot again after a terrible first couple months after being returned to Memphis. I don’t really see a spot for him either, but maybe he can be traded for at least some small return?

This is my first look at this player page. For three seasons he was best vs southpaws, and now he’s good vs righties too. I can see Grays interest. A 4-digit ops vs righties (2025) caught my eye too.

Sinai and Koprniak are having bad years. What does it hurt to give Church a chance?

Any of the left swinging OFs could be moved between now and opening day 2026. At this point Scott is the most intriguing as part of the roster going forward, but he would be most intriguing to a trade partner too. Church will move up when some of the guys we’ve been coasting with move out.

Church had 200 PA’s across May and June, both months sporting a 4-digit ops, overall. That’s a good block of PA’s.

His first issue is that he’s not on the 40 man.

Don’t know much about the man but we get these posts at least 3-4 times a year where some dude playing well deserves a chance. I guess the a organization doesn’t feel the way some do currently.

He’s been at AAA a little over a month. It doesn’t hurt to give a little more time to see if he can continue this production. He could come up in mid August and still make a difference if he’s really turned a corner on his offense. I don’t want to rush him like it seems we did with Walker.

Not even on the 40 man, booyah? Well yeah, that could possibly be a factor…Haha!

What do we have to lose as far as our outfield is concerned. I like Scott because he plays great defense, and his speed is game changing. The other 2 outfield spots can be improved on.

What we have to lose is that we rush him and he becomes another Walker or Gorman. Let him develope a little more. Will Church make this team a world series champion caliber team this year?

It sounds just like the talk about Koperniak last year.

“Mid August” is also the post-deadline roster. A roster spot could come from Hampson getting the Brandon Crawford pink slip. I like Forsch’s timeline because Hampsons platoon value crashes if the FO becomes sellers at the deadline.
