stlcard25ParticipantWe are allowed to talk about this without someone trying to force us not to talk about it if we want.
I believe that Brian would rather us talk baseball because these sorts of discussions inevitably devolve into bickering contests. I’m certain that not one thing anyone could say here will change anyone else’s mind on the word used, Thom Brennaman, cancel culture, LGBTQIA+ issues, or the anything else one might have thought about that comment and the reaction. But it might create hard feelings that linger and ruin threads long into the future.
That’s not bullying, that’s just the way it always goes. As a person who has moderated several good sized forums with fairly consistent rules that many didn’t like any more than you like Brian’s “stick to baseball” policy, hard feelings and poster blowups happen a lot more than you recognize. No doubt it’s best for all to try to avoid it if we at all can.

ParticipantThere are other forums for this kind of stuff. I does indeed cause dissention. Especially when there’s such a wide age range of posters on here.
August 21, 2020 at 5:46 pm #136226Problem is many websites have forums on current affairs ect…. we don’t have that because yes maybe Brian would like this to be about baseball only. Also let’s be honest here. We don’t always have traffic. Other sites like Stl Today do and have thread topic like this very one but pick your poison because that site you run into some goons. Here it’s a lot more tame.

ParticipantWell it is a baseball story. we have two situations, one with mark grace with cubs and the one here. i think Brennaman should be fired. In this day and age to say something like that anywhere near a mike no matter what is stupid at best. Do i personally believe he should be fired, no i believe a suspension and appropriate actions like the apology and such should be enough but you have to see the times we are in. As far as grace, i dont think thats as big of a deal and he should have at best been out 1 game if at all.

Participantwrong thread there pugsley. I agree but posting on the wrong thread is kind of akin to missing a fly ball on a discussion board.
August 21, 2020 at 10:42 pm #136316Ha! Yeah I botched that one, Willie. But not nearly as bad as two others with gigantic miscues in the last 24 hours….(cough cough) Brennaman & Bader.

ParticipantWell you may be right pugsley, bader did miss that one but ive noticed he misses a ball he should have caught once or twice in a season but he also takes a lot of hits away during a season so he makes up for those goofs, a lot of outfielders dont, they are just filling a space. Having been both a poster and a outfielder, i can clearly say its a lot harder to always judge a flyball back at the wall than know what thread im posting on.{ HA HA}
