Since there is little to talk about, we will break tradition and have a Super Bowl thread. Here is one pick…

I don’t watch the NFL anymore but I don’t understand the state pride in having to cheer on the Chiefs. I hope the Chiefs get clobbered.

Midwest team and Missouri team. Why not root for them if you live in St. Louis?

Well like Bill O’Brien in the AFC Championship game, Mike Shanahan becomes an idiot with the clock management and the Chiefs (ugh) win.

Congrats to the Chiefs from the Great State of Kansas.

Kansas is a great state indeed, BHC. Our daughter went to KU.

P.S. my above comment was a joke because a famous person on twitter tonight congratulated the Chiefs as being from Kansas and not Missouri.

It turned out to be a good game with the Chiefs having to have their usual comeback to win. Mahomes was solid and the 49ers just missed that deep ball to Sanders that would have set them up to win.

Kansas City is a good football City, with lots of Chief’s traditions, a number of former players
in the Pro Football Hall of Fame (Dawson, Bell, Lanier, Buchanan, Thomas, Culp, Stendrud, etc.), and they may have the best tailgating in the NFL. Glad to see them finally get a title after a 50 year drought.

It was a great night to be a Chiefs fan! After 50 long years of close but no cigar they finally did it.

In my youth I liked the Big Red Cardinals of Jim Hart, Neil Lomax, Dan Dierdorf, Mel Gray, and OJ Anderson, but after they moved to Arizona I became a full time Chiefs fan. KC is a much better football town than baseball. Their fan base in unbelievable. Congrats to the Hunt family, Andy Reid, and Chiefs Kingdom!

I mean that’s your opinion, which is fine, but I happened to love that halftime show along with my wife and multiple friends that I’ve spoken to since last night. One of the best halftime shows in a while – probably since 2015 with Katy Perry.

Also, the Super Bowl and halftime show last night really made me realize just how poor MLB is when it comes to marketing itself and eliminating 42 minor league teams isn’t going to help that.

The NFL has done the best it can to play down the amount of spousal abuse, the back they turned to retired players medical issues, the concussion controversy, and the protests during the National Anthem. Maybe what sheepdawg is saying is that a sexually suggestive half time show may not be in their best interest, taken along with many team’s cheerleading outfits. Just a guess. But I guess sex and violence sells.

I stopped watching football and never realized. I started watching it again while I was down after a knee replacement. I started enjoying it again. I think it’s because they have taken the violence out of the game. The play is still intense but the players are no longer trying to hurt the opposing players. It’s not a game when a player is actually trying to disable an opposing player, rather it’s an expression of violence. Also, if the political stuff is still there, it’s not showing up on my time as much as it used to.

It was way over the top for young viewers.

Too bad that’s the way it’s going. I guess taste is on it’s way out.

Many of us didn’t have a problem with the show. It’s not like they were naked.

Was it appropriate for viewers under 12 years old?

“Hey, Dad, why are they shaking their bodies like that?”
“Do they have a problem with their hips?”

The NFL touts the Super Bowl as family entertainment. Then they produce a half time show with women sensually moving their hips, with the cameras zeroing in on the bump and grind. May not be the best thing.

There was also actual pole dancing. But when you get artists who are more sexually appealing than musically talented, what would anyone expect?

I don’t care what they do, but parents just have to know to keep their kids distracted during halftime. I go to a party every year that has tons of kids. They barely pay attention to the game at all, the ones that are young enough to worry about anyway.

But still, pole dancing and S&M innuendo? That seems a bit much.

Do you pay attention to what your kids are watching.

NFL is a family network, sweet, yeah but……….
You should go to a porn network to get off your jollies.

I think the NFL wanted a Latin vibe since the game was in Miami. I can’t say that I was offended but no that kind of music is not my cup of tea.
