jj-cf-stlParticipantIf Siani doesn’t make the catch, the probability was 0%
July 7, 2024 at 3:02 pm #259450The obligatory first batter walk
July 7, 2024 at 3:03 pm #259451We can’t have a blowout. They all have to be close.
July 7, 2024 at 3:04 pm #259452Pretty close, JJ. We have seen enough of him (Siani) now that we can make some comparisons. We’ve had some great defensive centerfielders, but this guy is the best Cardinal centerfielder that I’ve seen.
July 7, 2024 at 3:04 pm #259453Yeah, no lead is ever safe until it’s in the books.
July 7, 2024 at 3:04 pm #259454Dangerous pitches to Winker there. But at least he didn’t walk him. We’ll take it.
July 7, 2024 at 3:09 pm #259455
jj-cf-stlParticipantWe’ve allowed a WHIP of 1.950 so far.
July 7, 2024 at 3:10 pm #259456If you don’t like Pedro Pages…..then you simply don’t like baseball…..and I think Jnevel would definitely concur. One out singles by Pedro and Winn Dixie have the Cardinals looking to pad their 8-3 8th inning advantage.
July 7, 2024 at 3:11 pm #259457
jj-cf-stlParticipantAlmost two base runners per inning, and they only have 3 runs this late.
July 7, 2024 at 3:12 pm #259458I would concur Pugs. I love watching Pages play.
July 7, 2024 at 3:13 pm #259459Hopefully King and Roycroft can finish this one out.
July 7, 2024 at 3:17 pm #259461
jj-cf-stlParticipantRoycroft vs 6, 7, 8, all righties
July 7, 2024 at 3:18 pm #259462
jj-cf-stlParticipantSawed him off well.
July 7, 2024 at 3:19 pm #259463Pretty clear the Offense is no longer Offensive. Can’t wait to get Noot & Edman back. They should really lengthen this lineup if the come back and play to their career norms.
July 7, 2024 at 3:23 pm #259464
jj-cf-stlParticipantPretty clear either Libby or Fernandez can shut down a major mess left by a SP’r. I like those two as mid-relief and strand em’.
July 7, 2024 at 3:32 pm #259465If Arenado can play just 80% as good as he’s played this series the rest of the way, that’s a major improvement for both our offense and defense.
July 7, 2024 at 3:34 pm #259466
jj-cf-stlParticipantLove the inside pitching by Roycroft.
July 7, 2024 at 3:35 pm #259467It doesn’t get mentioned enough but this Cardinal bullpen is very deep. They may bend but rarely break. They are a true weapon for the manager and a big reason this team is now five games over .500.
July 7, 2024 at 3:36 pm #259468I admit than the first year Roycroft was acquired from the Frontier league I didn’t really give him a second look. He had several times where he blew up a lot of runs and he was a bit wild. He had some good stuff but I didn’t think he had much of a shot. Last season he started looking a bit more interesting but I just figured that he’s older and just beating up on some younger guys. What a revelation he has been this season though! He’s a lot like Kittredge. Great bowling ball sinker. Great fastball at the top of the zone. Slider. I’m becoming a serious fan.
July 7, 2024 at 3:50 pm #259469It’s nice to see the Lazarus triplets rising from the dead.
July 7, 2024 at 3:51 pm #259471Well a typical Cardinals game, another lopsided loss 8-3. We have now been outscored…..wait a minute, you say St. Louis had the “8” – we won 8-3??? What am I going to do about this list of complaints….Marmol is a bum, Dusty Blake is a dusty flake…..
Guess I will file them away for a future losing effort.
But seriously folks, again I did not watch this but listened to the KMOX broadcast. Rooney and Horton were impressed with the different look they are seeing from Gorman. Sounds like he is staying on the ball more. And Senior Nolan with another multiple hit game.
Great work from the bullpen. A good all-around win.
July 7, 2024 at 3:53 pm #259472Note: Gorman & Nado both had their OPS go over .700 today! It’s a good sign and hopefully a sign of better things to come!

jj-cf-stlParticipantGibson owes Fernandez a tip and a big league dinner.
Gorman 2fer2 vs the LH SP’r.
Nats had an OBP of .405. The lack of HR’s cost them.
Gibson faced 23 batters (9 hits and 2 BB’s), a whip of 2.200.
Yepez two GIDP was huge for Kyle.July 7, 2024 at 6:12 pm #259491No help from the Dodgers today as the Brewers trounce them out in California by a 9-2 score. On the upside, the Padres also take a thrashing from the D-backs and lose by a final of 9-1. In any case, the only thing that really matters is to win the game you play and the Cardinals did just that today. Al Davis would be happy.
July 7, 2024 at 10:33 pm #259510Marmol did a nice job with the bullpen today, other than warming up Romero in the 9th inning with a 5-run lead and nobody on. (Isn’t Romero one of the “overworked relievers”?) Well, can’t have everything.
Gorman appears to be trying for base hits instead of homers over the past few days — and that’s great. I don’t want to see an Arenado-esque power outage from Nolan #2, but a batting average of at least .240 would be wonderful at this point even if it means fewer taters.
Cards have still scored fewer runs than the cubs and allowed more. A win is a win is a win, but I guess I’m a snob ’cause I won’t be enthused until the Birds have scored as many runs as they’ve permitted.
