It’s nice to see Fermin with a couple of hits and a run scored. He hasn’t contributed much at all until today. And a big 2 out RBI from Pages to make it 3-0. All three Cardinal RBI’s today are of the 2 out variety. Those are killers to the enemy.

Lousy baserunning by Suwinski. He should be standing on 3B with no outs.

Well, the second BB of the inning pushes him over to 3B.

That base jammed comebacker from Reynolds had a good chance to be a 1-2-3 GIDP or at least a force out at HP. Too bad Lance insn’t quite Maddux or Kaat out there on the mound with the mitt.

Got the out on a nice play by Winn, but sometimes he seems to get a little confused. Looked like he wanted to try to get a force when that play is always and forever at 1B.

Looks like I’m the only one in the ballpark. I knew attendance was way down, but this is really bad…Haha!

Donovan with the solo tater to give the Redbirds the 1 run lead. He muscles up from time to time. They’ve got him listed at 6-1 and 210 lbs. but he sure doesn’t look to be that that size of a man. I guess it’s because almost every one of these guys is a giant thess days.

I may have to drop out on you though. It’ll be just you, a hot dog vendor, some players, and a handful of blind guys wearing long black coats.

I’ve been monitoring the game thread but haven’t been watching. Priorities got diverted earlier today.

I have Insomnia so I didn’t get to sleep until around 8:00 this morning. When I woke up up around 1:00 this afternoon I was feeling bad, tired, weak, a little dizzy. This was way out of the ordinary. So I got dressed and walked through the cornfield to the doctors office next to me. Heart, lungs all sounded good. BP was 138/93, slightly high. Blood sugar was 101. The doc said to just sit there for awhile. Finally told me no signs indicating a heart attack or a stroke so he sent me home and told me to take it easy.

Anyway, sure hope the bullpen can hang on to the slim 4-3 lead……

Kittredge gets the baseball for the 9th with a skinny 1 run cushion…Unusual.

Thanks 1td. Whitey Herdog is keeping an eye on me..:)

Reynolds grounds out – AND THAT’S A WINNER!

4-3 Redbirds the final. Back to just one game under .500! Need to win 2 of 3 at Wrigley this weekend.

Cardinals win 4-3 as Kittredge gets it done with the S. I’m still puzzled. Is Helsley hurt?

1TD, I think Helsley pitched in the previous two games thus got the day off today.

Great job by the rest of the pen. Lynn only going 4.1 innings was not good.

Hat tip to Goldy, Donovan, and Winn also.

Haha!…Cardinals go from last place to second place and a NL WC spot faster than you can say, “Rumpelstiltskin.” Such is the new world order.

I think you’re right, gscottar. I just knew Kittredge and Helsley both worked yesterday and threw 14 and 15 pitches respectively. I had forgotten that Helsley took the loss on Tuesday. At any rate, I was surprised to see Kittredge in the 9th with a 1 run lead, but he got it done. “Just win, baby”…Haha!

Nice win. I was around – went paddle boarding this morning, then came back for lunch and watched the early innings. Then I was kicking back on the patio this afternoon sort of half dozing off listening to the KMOX broadcast.

It is in the 90s here (though only 14% humidity), so once I shaked off the cobwebs I went inside and watched the final couple of innings.

As for the game, great work by the bullpen and a couple of key long ones. Cool side note that Arenado and Skenes went to the same high school and their paths crossed at times over the years.

Hang in there Rats. Glad to see that the vitals are good, but too bad about the insomnia. My wife is a bit that way as far as occasional difficulty sleeping. I am almost the opposite – can sleep anywhere and sometimes wished I could stay awake longer, like when reading a book or watching a good episode of Perry Mason. 😄

Best wishes Rat and Whitey. Be extra careful not to get dehydrated when your routine gets messed up by insomnia.

I sdee we are in second place all to ourselves.

A sweep of the no good rotten sleazy stinkin smelly Cubs would do wonders for my attitude about the Cardinals season to date.

Yeah, this is no surprise, but I just saw that the 3 teams that lead the Big Leagues in drawing walks also lead the Big Leagues in runs scored. The Dodgers, Yankees and Phillies. They don’t do too bad in the standings either.
