That is a lot of LH batters against one of the toughest LH pitchers in the league. I’m not saying that we have many other options. We are just a very LH centric team.

Walker will almost assuredly be back in StL. before June 6th, so that ought to provide a little flexibility.

Walker is still sitting on ZERO home runs for the year.

He is hitting .304 in AAA with a .356 OBP but he ain’t figured things out yet.

If I recall correctly we could have had Juan Soto for Walker and Gorman.

Anybody wish we had pulled the trigger on that trade two years ago now?

Maybe so ZTR, but the “Star Wars Jordan Skywalker Bobblehead Night” is June 6th. He’ll have to be back in StL. for that…

Haha!…I can’t remember what year it was, but they had to send a car to bring Wong back from Memphis before “Kolten Wong Hawaiian Jersey” night…I think they shipped him back out a couple of weeks later…

Very important programming note: Tonight’s Friday Game Thread Catfish Fiddler Night has been canceled…..I repeat, there will be no Catfish Fiddler Din-Din feast this evening. Our deepest apologies for any discomfort this may have caused, but with our fearless Fiddler(Rat) not doing any fiddling this evening, plus many members being away for the long holiday weekend, it seemed in everyone’s prudent interest that it be called off. It of course will return in all of it’s scrumptious glory next Friday.

Somebody must think Carlson really stinks if he can’t get in the lineup vs this lefty. Gorman is terrible vs lefties and one or more of the other left swingers probably are too, and this is where Carlson has the platoon advantage. I have noticed before, Dylan can get nailed to the bench more profoundly than just about anybody.

    Gorman is terrible vs lefties

Prior to this year, Gorman did not have splits. He is suffering from splits this year.

But yes, you would think with Carlson being better as a RH bat, they’d give him an opportunity.

Yeah, for career, I can’t see any significant difference. And he’s been terrible vs. both sides in ’24.

Gorman had a terrible bad platoon split in AA and AAA. Last year he didn’t, but he is back to it now. (I don’t understand how that happens).

I wasn’t at all impressed with what I saw from him last season, but I happened to notice that Luckenbacher’s leading the Memphis team in both HR’s and RBI’s. Wouldn’t it be better to have a RH’ed bat with some power coming off the bench instead of a guy like Carpenter? Of course, I guess we need Carpenter’s leadership skills more than we need to score some runs…

    “Fernandomania”

Memba Fernandos 5 game Cards career Dom? Now mind you, I have to think hard about what happened yesterday. Yet I can recall Fernando closing out his run in 1997 in StLouis.

He sure did. Sutcliffe was another guy who finished his career as a Cardinal.

    Edit…Smoltz, too!

I wonder if Mikolas ever played against Shogun in Japan.

The problem with acquiring Soto would be to sign him long term. I don’t think we could have done that, so I am still okay with keeping Walker and Gorman – if indeed that was a deal on the table. Not ready to give up on either guy at this point.

Pirates are thrashing the Braves by a score of 7-0 in the 6th. The Phillies are beginning to run off and leave the Braves in the NLE.

Good opp for our lefties to show they aren’t platoon bats. TBD.

Cubs have been struggling offensively. Will they continue to? Front burner item too.

They can sell some overpriced beer and hot dogs before they send everyone home and tell them that their raincheck ticket stub is only good for a voucher to a game next season…

The Pirates are now handing the Braves their backsides as they lead ATL 11-0 in the 8th. Meanwhile, KC leads TB 8-1 in the 8th as the Royals try for their 7th consecutive W. The team from the western area of Missouri’s playing well this season.
