Burly with an oppo 3 run tater
July 13, 2024 at 1:43 pm #260195Haha…Burleson with the 3 run TATER!
July 13, 2024 at 1:43 pm #260196A nine spot in the first!!? Even Lynn can’t blow this one, can he??
July 13, 2024 at 1:45 pm #260197
jj-cf-stlParticipantYah, these will get classified as runs “after it mattered”. Bwahaha!
July 13, 2024 at 1:46 pm #2601989 is by far our highest inning of the year, right? I’m not sure we’ve had over 5 or 6 in one inning prior.
July 13, 2024 at 1:48 pm #260199I’m only guessing, but I’d have to say the last time the Cardinals scored more than 9 runs in the first inning was during the deciding game 5 of the ’19 NLDS.
July 13, 2024 at 1:48 pm #260200Not over til it’s over – Lynn gave up double figure runs in a total of less than three innings his last time out. Wouldn’t think he would do that twice in a row, but man that was dreadful.
July 13, 2024 at 1:49 pm #260201No lead is ever safe until it’s placed in the books.
July 13, 2024 at 1:51 pm #260202Now we just need Lance to go 6 innings and give up say 4 or less runs. That would be perfect. That should give us full leverage in the pen for the remaining 2 games.
July 13, 2024 at 1:52 pm #260203<Yeah, the Cubbies must have all watched a screening of “Das Boot” back at the hotel.>
Now that cracked me up!
I wonder how often a team has come back from a 9 run first?
July 13, 2024 at 1:54 pm #260204Lynn blows away Armstrong for the 3rd out. Lance had plenty of time in the tunnel to fortify himself with a baker’s dozen of Bavarian Bizmarks during that extended Redbird first inning…He’s ready to go now.
July 13, 2024 at 1:55 pm #260205Arenado’s been watching Winn take it the other way.
July 13, 2024 at 1:59 pm #260206The resident guru on another message board just can’t concede that he misjudged Burleson’s ability. He’s been a Burleson critic for a long time. Now, he sarcastically, calls Burleson “Bumbles”. He can call him anything he pleases. No biggie, I guess. I, like many of you, are pretty happy Burleson is a Cardinal regular.
July 13, 2024 at 2:03 pm #260207Pages a hit this time to tack on one more. We will see if Counsell sticks with Wesneski and saves his bullpen. Might as well let him get to around 100 pitches f you are the Chicago skipper, as honestly, he deserves better. We have not exactly hit ropes all over the place.

jj-cf-stlParticipantAfter 2 innings we have a BAbip of .538
July 13, 2024 at 2:13 pm #260209Someone’s calling Burleson, “Bumbleson”? That’s nothing short of blasphemy! I remember when I predicted Pujols would be pretty good some people called Albert bad names too…
July 13, 2024 at 2:15 pm #260210
jj-cf-stlParticipantMo comped Pujols for Carlson.
July 13, 2024 at 2:25 pm #260211After 2 innings we have a BAbip of .538
What the hell is BAbip???!!!
July 13, 2024 at 2:26 pm #260212Carlson was at 2999 hits before his first Big League AB.
July 13, 2024 at 2:28 pm #260213BAbip is short for, “You bet your bippy”…
July 13, 2024 at 2:29 pm #260214Haha!…Lance is uber-amped on those Bavarian Bizmarks today!
July 13, 2024 at 2:30 pm #260215
