I would assume Hayden Koufax will once again shut down the Cardinals. The All Star Break is coming at a good time for the Redbirds. We will probably be on a six game losing streak.

And I expect the Cubs to pound Lynn early and often. I am going to call this one 9-2 Cubs.

Bar none our biggest game of the year. Lose this one and matters could spin wildly out of control. The cubbies need to be put in their place……and their place is mired in 3rd or 4th place double digits off the pace. What playoff minded team loses 5 consecutive home games. If Oli cannot get his club primed for victory in a game that holds this much importance, then he’s definitely the wrong man for the job.

I can’t really say that this lineup is any more imposing even though Goldy is not in the middle of it. Hope for the best.

Yeah Pugs, it’s bad enough that the Cardinals have lost 4 consecutive home playoff games.

A baseball season has its ups and downs but this past week has been double dreadful. The Cubs have won 5 in a row while the Cards have lost 3 in a row. We desperately need to turn this around today and don’t give that Cub front office any incentive to become buyers before the end of the month.

I’m sure some would disagree, but I think it makes for better baseball when the Cardinals play the Cubs when both teams are still relevant.

Winn is slumping. Siani might be done over performing. Not much can be expected from Pages. Gorman and Arenado have been mostly disappointing. That leaves 4 guys I feel like can be relied on to do some heavy lifting. There is no help on the bench.

Does that about sum it up?

I am fine with that as long as we win. Otherwise the baby bears can stay in the basement.

Well yeah, of course you want to win, but I’ve found that brushing the Cubs aside when both teams were still in the hunt is that much more satisfying.

Been quite a while since I’ve seen a 5-3 GIDP like that one.

Close play at 1B, but I don’t know how they can overturn this one.

Yeah, the Cubbies must have all watched a screening of “Das Boot” back at the hotel.

A chance to blow this open early thanks to mistakes by the Cubs, but Gorman and Pages work to keep the Cubs in the game. Winn bails us out with another two- strike hit. That’s how you do it – just put the bat on the ball. Wish Gorman could learn that.

Two hits with two RBI’s and a run scored in the inning and Winn’s supposed to be in a slump…
