Those crock pot roasts almost always turn out real good. Had some sandwiches earlier this afternoon made from leftover chuck roast cooked the other night in the crock pot. Warmed up and sliced on rye bread with salt, pepper and horseradish. Served it up with a side of store bought potato salad and pickle. It really hit the spot until the heartburn from the horseradish kicked in…Haha!

Ha! Yep those roast beef sandwiches are looked forward to. I like mine on honey wheat bread and sliced dills for the other hand 🤠

Yeah, you can’t go wrong with a roast beef sandwich unless it’s from Arbys…

The wifeys cooking is so good we eat out very moderately. She’d rather eat her cooking too, so it works for me!

“ 25% of the season is done, and they still can’t bat Goldschmidt lower than #3”

Nor can they put Winn up into the 1 or 2 slot.

There doesn’t seem to be as many places that serve up good food for a reasonable price nowadays. Even a couple of places we used to enjoy have lost their luster in the last few years. There’s still a couple of our old favorite restaurants that we like to visit from time to time. The food and service are still excellent, but the cost is double what it was only a few years ago. I guess eveything’s a bit like that.

Yep, 3 adults was $103 at Buffalo Wild Wings Saturday. We did it right I admit, and also tacked on a nice tip too. C-note

I feel pretty good about Libby vs their lefties, and their righties available is not murders row, but still a Libby concern. It’s more innings, do good w/them.

The dining out chatter ties in to tonight’s game in the sense that I’ll never forget game 6 of the ’02 Angels/Giants WS. We met another couple who are good friends for dinner at a crowded restaurant on The Hill on a Saturday night. The place was jammed and we had to wait in the bar area for seating. That area of the restaurant featured a couple of TV’s as Dusty’s Giant’s enjoyed a late 5-0 lead and seemed poised to wrap up that season’s WS championship. When the Angels began their unlikely comeback to win the game we insisted on staying in the bar area and watching the late innings of the game. Both of our wives gave us some dirty looks, but seeing the end of that game was well worth it…Haha!

Edit…Checking the box score of that game reminded me that our old friend Scott Spezio ripped a 3 run tater to begin the comeback in the 7th inning.

They seem to have been searching for a leadoff hitter for 10 plus years

The Cardinals are starting the game with just three hitters with an OPS above .700.

Two of them are at .703, and the other is Carpenter who has only played in a few games.

I remember when we used to think a .700 OPS was pathetic, for this team it is outstanding.

Pillars path to the LAA cleanup batter included a recent release. Now he has 17 total bases in 21 PA’s.

They’re not easy to come by and I think the prototypical lead-off hitter has lost it’s sense of identity. I mean, Schwarber or Rizzo as lead-off guys? Nothing makes sense in today’s world anymore. Obviously, Rickey was the “greatest of all time”, but I also think of guys like Suzuki, Lofton, and of course, Brock.

I just made chuck roast sandwiches on grilled sourdough with mozzarella mixed in on Saturday for lunch. My wife, who is eating for two, declined hers so I ate for us two. Haha. Been some great sales on chuck lately so I’ve just been replenishing the stock every time I see it cheap. Good stuff!

Cardinals now have no hitters with an OPS above .700.

This futility at the plate is truly astounding.

Yes, it is. As a team they’re 28th or worse in every important hitting category. It’s across the board futility.

I could say this about almost any unsuccessful pitcher, but whenever Liberatore misses, he misses belt high.

Liberatore is just not a good fit as a starting pitcher. I thought he’d get there but I was wrong. He just doesn’t have a good fastball to counter his slider and curve to help him last more than 1+ innings. I thought he could add arm strength and get there but he just hasn’t. Plus, when he gets fatigued, he starts leaving everything up. I think he’s destined for relief and the sooner the Cards accept that, the better off we will all be.

Libby gives us a Matz type start

Matz has a better arsenal. But yeah, neither seem to execute pitches well.

There is no good choice for starter number 5 right now. Matz is probably the best option when healthy. It’s better to keep Robberse in Memphis until he’s truly ready. Thompson is erratic. Maybe that’s why Pallante is suddenly training to be a starter again. Perhaps he could become the best alternative?

Need to drive Winn in from third here.
