Gray’s best era, over a full season, has been in the 2.75 ballpark, and he’s done that four times. Is it possible he could go a whole season pitching with an era of 2.25, more or less? Probably not, but even if he did, he’s going to start giving up about three runs for every seven innings of work.

We need to improve our offense, just to win Gray’s upcoming starts, to say nothing of the rest of the rotation.

Going to today’s game. My wife has parking lined up for Starr lot. What can anyone tell me about that lot? I usually park in the stadium west parking deck.

I think that is a lot that is good if you are going down early to goof around downtown. It is always open, I think.

Will we ever face another righty starter?

What a pitiful lineup. No way Contreras should be batting 2nd. And Donovan 7th?

Sometimes I think this analytics crap has done more harm than good.

Donovan is carrying a .215 BA and .295 OBP. I could agree he should be 8th instead. Noot is even worse, so he has 9th locked up.

I have nothing against Fermin leading off. It’s not like we have a compelling alternative. Or any alternative.

Contreras is the best hitter right now, so he is fine in 2nd. There are many millions of reasons why the bronze busts are 3rd and 4th. Some think they might be starting to come around. Uhm, maybe so.

Do you guys realize our team batting average is .214? That is pitiful. Pathetic. That’s below 1968 levels, the year of the pitcher.

Well, Fermin’s .444 OBP ought to to kick start the offense.

Cardinals are tied at 23 with the team that beat them 2 of 3 over the weekend for the worst team HR total in the Big Leagues.

Early on I wanted Goldy lower than 2 in our lineup in order to have more run producing opertunities. Now I wonder why he is at 3 with his lousy production.

When he is near his peak production I like him much more at 3 than 2, but right now I think he should be more around 6.

I also keep thinking about Goldy being moved down. But everybody can’t be down. As far as up in the lineup right now we have Contreras, Arenado, Winn I guess, Carlson vs lefties. Fermin can be tried. It’s pretty thin, and nothing sounds all that good. Might not be worth the trouble to move him.

Realistically, other than Contreras, do we have any hitter actually deserving of a #2-#5 lineup spot? I don’t think so. Arenado is playing much better and is probably getting there, but he needs to start hitting for more power.

Winn should be #2. Contreras should be #3. Arenado is fine at #4. Then need a LH bat at #5.

Agree Bling, we’re past a lineup shakeup. Honestly, I’d push reset. Back to the default setting and wait it out. At least it’s familiar.

You can shake them up in a hat at this phase. Shuffle them around any way you want and see what happens.

With his leadoff hit, Fermin’s BA is .286, which is the highest is our lineup.

Mets saved a run with that diving catch on Herrera.

Ok. We got our one run for the evening. Now the hitters can rest. If one run isn’t enough for our pitchers, then too bad.

Crooked number inning. Did you hear me call it?

    Somehow it’s tied.

Ivan Herrera needs to get with the program. He doubles with 2 on to score two. Knowing that he screwed up because ONE is the number of runs this team is supposed to get, he promptly runs into an out at third. Dock his paycheck.
