Also BS Southeast and Southwest ExtraWell, once again, little activity here. No posts on this game thread yet so I thought I would get the ball rolling.
Nice MNF game last night. Atlanta drove 70 yards in 6-7 plays in about one minute to come from behind and win 22-21. After that was over I finished watching the Astros and Padres from Jack Murphy Stadium. Tonight it will be the Yankees and Mariners from the Kingdome in Seattle.
Anxious to see tonight’s lineup. I am wondering at some point in this homestand if Matt Carpenter gets a start. I assume this will be his final game in St. Louis at some point this week.

CF M. Siani LToday’s lineup once again passes the Siani test since he’s out hitting less than half of the lineup. Siani (.238) is outhitting Saggese (.167), Baker (.172) and Walker (.186). The recent surge by Pages (.244) and Goldschmidt (.245) has the lineup in better shape than a week ago when Siani was regularly out hitting 5 of the 8 others. Noot (.245) has also surged ahead of Siani (.238). It looks like Ollie was right about all that stuff helping in September.
Funny, we act like .245, .244, and .238 are really good batting averages.
They are pitiful.
And that’s why we are pitiful.
I was under the impression that the skills and talent of a hitter were no longer measured by his batting average. I would guess that in the very near future that a league batting title will be awarded based on a combination of exit velocity and launch angle. You could probably also throw in the size and weight of the pretty sparkly necklace that he wears as he stands in the box.
This lineup has little chance of entertaining me this evening. My only interest is if Walker and or Saggesse start to show something.
Good grief, a leadoff double and we can’t do anything. The guy even stole 3rd with one out. Walker, Saggese and Pages, off with their heads, to the glue factory, into the chum bucket.
Holy cow, Gamecast shows Baker with a triple. 285 lb guys don’t hit triples. I’ll have to see that on the highlights. Tied up 1-1
So far the offense is going for the world record of getting the least possible out of a bunch of chances.

My grandma always said if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything. That doesn’t count in baseball. Goldy and Arenado are the suck brothers. First pitch dp by both of our 3rd and 4th hitters. Truly pathetic display. I have no desire to view either of these guys in a Cardinal uniform. They put more suck on the field in a week than Albert Pujols did in a career.
I have to agree with everyone else on the current status of the Cardinal’s corner IF’ers. It’s my view, that in less than two seasons, they’ve gone from the best corner IF tandem in baseball to a duo that could be compared to Zsa Zsa and Eva Gabor. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen two star Cardinal players simultaneously fall off the deep end of the baseball productivity chart so abruptly.

It’s already a highlight on GameCast.
Baker now has more triples on the season than Goldschmidt, Arenado, Contreras, Gorman, and Burleson combined.
Although since he only had 1 other triple in his minor league career, don’t expect them to come daily.
What would this teams record be without an elite closer?
Most of the people on this board want to trade away that elite closer.
Lynn with a nice line. Does he plan to keep pitching next year? I feel like the Cards got exactly what they wanted out of him, particularly his fiery attitude and grit. But I can’t help feeling like going back to that well would be a big mistake.
