Well, so much for that opportunity.

I’m convinced the Cards could load the bases with no outs and the pitcher walks the next batter and somehow they still don’t score a run. This team’s inability to score runs with RISP with less than 2 outs is historically bad.

Is Ivan Herrera hurt? If he is I missed it! If not why has been out for two days? I thought the old saying was just hit and they’ll find a place for you! Is our lineup so stacked he can’t get in the first 9? Lol! I for one would have much rather seen him upon there instead of Walker! A quality manager would figure a way to get him in the line up! That’s his job! If he is hurt I apologize for not knowing!

I guess Gibson lost his QS.

Cardinals had 2nd & 3rd with nobody out, and couldn’t score.

Diamondbacks come back with a 3-run homer in the bottom half and still haven’t recorded an out…

    Is Ivan Herrera hurt?

No. When Nootbaar came back, they moved Donovan to DH. So, we can’t have two catchers in the game at the same time.

They can hit. Came back 6 runs on us yesterday. Battle back.

They looked like they weren’t done after the 3 run tater. Fortunate to keep it within reach.

I’m enjoying watching Winn. He could be a good one.

    2 Peterson’s, 2 Nelson’s. This Diamondbacks team has a lot of brothers

LA Card fan, is that a rule? If so how about bringing up a 3rd catcher! When you have 3 or 4 guys hitting less than 200 and Herrera is your 2nd hottest hitter you do what it takes to get him in the line up! IMO!

When behind is appropriate for Andre, currently. Splits set up in his favor.

Where are you going to play multiple catchers?

Good battle but lost. More of Pallante?

    LA Card fan,
Herrera catcher better defense than Contreras
    Contreras DH
    Donovan RF
You essentially trade Herreras bat for Walker and have improved defense at 2 positions?

Don’t agree with pinch-hitting Burleson for Walker. I would have let Walker hit, then pinch-hit for Scott.

    Fernandez, ok. Good spot.

Steve, we don’t want to lose Donovan’s bat, but he’s probably our worst fielder. So he is the DH. The alternative options are have Donovan play 2B, but we still want Gorman’s bat so then he’s the DH. Or, I guess Donovan could play RF and Walker could sit so both catchers could play. But if a catcher gets hurt, then we’d have to give up the DH and our pitchers would have to hit for the remainder of the game.

That gives Pallante an outing since his loss.

LACard – I agree on the PH for Walker. It’s weird. I would 100% support saving Burleson to hit for Scott and then having Siani come in for defense or to pinch run. But having Burleson hit for Walker doesn’t really feel like we’re upgrading anything.

They carried 3 catchers while Contreras was skint-up, Steve, but Pages shipped out when Nootbar came off the IL.

Contreras is grading pretty high in terms of pitch framing this year.

Walker is grading pretty well in RF, and Donovan would not necessarily be an upgrade, and is likely a downgrade.

While I agree with resting people who aren’t hitting to let them clear their minds, and it was fun having both catchers in the lineup, I understand the decision that was made.

Now, one can argue if you gave Arenado the night off last night and played Donovan at 3rd, that opens up the DH for a catcher. And if you give Walker off tonight and play Donovan in RF, that opens up DH.

But I have no qualms with them using Donovan and his .932 OPS as a DH.
