It’s got to be either Fermin or Scott unless they decide to stick Donnie on the IL.
In my Rule 5 piece, I almost wrote how I thought they might find a way to bring Saggese up before the close of the season. I guess it’s happening. Good for him.
I haven’t seen any sources saying Saggesse is an elite hitting prospect. Everything I’ve read has him as a role player type. He looks to be a util guy in my opinion. Plays all over the infield and has a decent bat. His overall season numbers arent great, but he has made adjustments in the 2nd half. Still only 22 as well for this season.
1st half – .231/.293/.385/.678
2nd half – .276/.335/.496/.831Me too, Rat. The rest of the season could be interesting for the Cards. They’re all but guaranteed not to be in the playoffs, so that puts them in the draft lottery with a chance to get the number 1 overall pick.
Donovan was IL’d for an infection on his foot.
Saggese was League MVP in 2023. I’m anxious to see what he can do. He got off to a bad start this season, but has been hitting really well for the past month and a half.
I’ve been following the Chiefs lately. They’re almost a hometown team. I like pro football better since they cleaned it up and made it more of a skill sport rather than the gladiator sport that it had become. For me, that business of deliberately trying to injure the opponent was a turn off, so I turned it off.

When I graduated from college in ‘84, I considering moving to St. Louis as I was such a huge Cardinal fan. But I decided to be smart about it and was able to hustle an interview with the Cardinals to see if there was any way I could get on in the accounting/finance area, or really most anything.
A guy named Mike Bertani interviewed me. I was escorted to his office, and was waiting for him, and he comes in carrying a six pack of Michelob that he puts in the small fridge in his office. I am thinking, “talk about a dream job – working for the Cardinals and having beer in theoffice!!!” 🙂
Alas they did not have anything for me, and Bertani said most of those jobs go to friends and relatives of people already in the organization.
Okay, our granddaughter got tickets to the Rockies-Cardinals game on September 25th. It is through her work and in a suite no less. The Cards will be eliminated from post season by then so who knows what kind of lineup they will trot out, but would be good to see some of the younger guys.

.313 OBP.He swings at everything. Those numbers do not project well to the next level, but I certainly wish him well.
Saggesse gets a pretty good jersey number. Three players who wore #25 account for a total of 1957 HR’s. That’s a lot of taters. Barry Bonds and former Cardinal Mark McGwire account for 1345 of those HR’s. The remaining of those 1957 HR’s were hit by the only player of the 3 that has been inducted into the HOF. Can anyone name him?
I’m going to go Jim Thome, but I cheated and looked up who finished with 612 home runs. Surprised it wasn’t your old friend Manny Motter.
You nailed it with Thome, Jnevel!..Yeah, but Motter brings a lot more to a team than just raw power. The possibilities are endless with a guy like Manny Motter! You could very well term him as an authentic 5-fool player…
