Fedde has not faired well as a Cardinal.

Maybe it’s his turn to win.

Outside of start one he has a 3.86 ERA in 28 innings. Not been the FIP darling but not as terrible as you suggest.

Our next 13 games are against teams just below average — 20 games under .500 cumulatively.

How many do we need to win to feel like we are in the hunt for a wild card berth?

I’d say 10-3 which is possible considering we’ve been beating better teams of late.

10-3 or 11-2 in the next 13 if we want any shot sounds about right. That would get us to 9 or 11 over .500, and I think 88-74 will be needed to make it to the playoffs.

They could still be invited to the NIT.

I also tend to think of that 2011 season when I remind myself that anything’s possible up until being mathematically eliminated. But I also remind myself of no Pujols, no Molina, no Carpenter, no Berkman and no TLR.

Problem is in the second half we have played better vs the good teams than we have the worse ones. Since i dont believe the brewers are going to fold, we have to count on someone else not playing well. Those teams all seem to be playing as good as we are.

Still talking playoffs? Well, I did notice a pig flying over this morning, so I supposes it’s possible.

For the optimist, per Fangraphs as of today, the Cardinals have a 1.4% chance of making the playoffs. Certainly not zero.

For the pessimist, conversely, the chance they miss is 98.6%.

Regardless of whether or not either of these two teams have a sliver of a chance to qualify for a post-season berth, it’s genuine nonsense that the St. Louis, Cardinals are playing 3 games with the Seattle Mariners in Sept. The planners and scheduling nit-wits of MLB have entirely ruined the overall sense of excitement associated with late season baseball by eliminating the vast majority of head to head contests held between league and division rivals in the last 4 or 5 weeks of the regular season. It’s plain stupid.

Friday night in September and the weather is perfect for spending the evening at the ballpark. I wonder what the actual gate will be.
