Well, I see Walker’s return has Bling fired up!!!
August 30, 2024 at 6:34 pm #266068The fly ball came one out too late with Pages making the third out. So much for that. Playing a team 22 games over .500 you can’t waste chances.
August 30, 2024 at 6:39 pm #266069Now the Yankees have a man on third with one out in the second. And they get a sac fly and it is 1-0. That is why they are 22 games over and we are not. It helped that they didn’t send a couple minor leaguers up there trying to do something.
August 30, 2024 at 6:42 pm #266070Walker will make amends…..hopefully as soon as tonight. Boy it’s getting scary with the cubbies scoring runs in big bunches lately. They hit the Nats with a 7 spot early on and lead Washington 7-2 as they move to the bottom of the 3rd in our once great nation’s capital.
I have my eye on a perfect waterfront (Lake Monona) future location in Madison for “Fiddlers On the Roof”, BicycleMike. You’ll be our first customer on opening night, Mike.
August 30, 2024 at 6:42 pm #266071Goldy at .699 ops. Dare he get past .700?
Maybe he trades places with Nado?
August 30, 2024 at 6:46 pm #266072We have a runner in scoring position again in the 3rd. We are getting our chances.
With our clean up hitter up no less.
August 30, 2024 at 6:50 pm #266073Ol Abner did it again. Our clean up hitter tied things up.
August 30, 2024 at 6:52 pm #266074Goldy gives us the lead. All right, you guys keep the train moving, I have to take my wife’s little dog out for a walk.
August 30, 2024 at 7:37 pm #266078We failed. Fedde gave three runs right back.
August 30, 2024 at 7:49 pm #266079It would be an honor to be your first customer Pugsley! I will bring a sample of the brew my brother-in-law puts together as well for a taste test in case you choose to put it on the menu.
Walker still needs to lay off that outside pitch. I would prefer him to close up his stance some and step into the pitch, rather than stay open like he does. I think he has to do that or he will always be pitched on the outer half and will struggle with that pitch.
August 30, 2024 at 8:04 pm #266080“Disengagements”? Does they mean pick-off attempts?
August 30, 2024 at 8:11 pm #266081Its horrible outside. By the time I got back from walking the dog I felt like I was wrapped in a wet diaper. A cold shower never felt so good. I see we are saving the good stuff for the end.
August 30, 2024 at 8:18 pm #266082Nado gets it to a one run deficit. Man, Milwaukee and Chicago are both really playing well. The Crew has done it all year, but the Cubs are looking downright Cardinal-like with a second half surge.
August 30, 2024 at 8:21 pm #266083You should be here, blinger. Right now it is 79 degrees and 28% humidity. Perfect for an evening walk.
August 30, 2024 at 8:22 pm #266084Potatoes O’Brien keeps those Yankees from hit starving.
August 30, 2024 at 8:28 pm #266085Should have kept Armstrong.
August 30, 2024 at 8:28 pm #266086“Wells”, there’s the ball game.
August 30, 2024 at 8:30 pm #266087We have talked about dodging the bullet with possible contracts to Pujols and Heyward. We had that big deal set to get Stanton and he turned us down. Not sure of the particulars but that was probably one that would have crippled us.
August 30, 2024 at 8:35 pm #266088Mike, we used to pass by that way driving out to near Leadville where a family member has a place. Haven’t been in years though.
August 30, 2024 at 8:53 pm #266090Close, but no cigar. We called it 7-3 Yanks and it ended 6-3 Yanks. My apologies to our esteemed board for an errant prediction. I can and will do better….perfection is a must. Tomorrow is a new day and with it’s arrival comes renewed hope. Don’t worry about Walker gang…….he’s going to get hot here down the stretch…..you can see it in his eyes.

Ha! He hasn’t been hot all season even when he was demoted.
I want to see it on the field not in his broken eyes.

ParticipantOne thing i have noticed, for the most part we play the better teams pretty good. I doubt are numbers are much better far as wins n losses but we just seem more competitive. Against weaker teams though, we just kind of sleepwalk against those guys sometimes.
August 30, 2024 at 9:20 pm #266093The Cardinals’ 2024 record:
vs. teams .500 or better – 37-44 (.457)
vs. teams under .500 – 30-24 (.556)Pretty substantial difference, but not surprising.
August 30, 2024 at 9:21 pm #266094I agree, Willie. They sometimes remind me of the manner in which teams like the Pirates, Reds and Cubs seemed to get amped up and exert a bit more effort and tenacity when they’d play the StL. Cardinals.

ParticipantWell brian you proved me wrong with the numbers far as season goes. But at least since all star break it just seems like our worst games are against bottom type teams. We lost big time vs reds, i think the cubs smacked us pretty good, while we handled the braves, milwaukee pretty good. Played even with padres, heck prob outplayed them. Even in series we lost against good teams, we have been mostly competitive. With the way we seem to play against bad teams lately, you wouldnt give us much of a shot vs the good ones.
