wonder if they have him trying something a little different which also accounts for the power surge.

I wouldn’t look to much into it.

Seems like you say they are tinkering. We know how well that words is received throughout Cardinal nation due to certain development of players.

Yeah, sorry, they wouldn’t try to “fix” the one guy who isn’t broken in one way or another.

Helsley gets them 1-2-3 in the 9th and the Redbirds finally win a game.

5-2 your final tonight at Sportsman Park.

Hard to believe that Helsley still leads the Big Leagues in saves when you consider that he hasn’t had a chance to close out a game since Aug. 9th.

Maybe he’s channeling his inner Wade Boggs and out of nowhere starts hitting taters.

Just finishing my Sunday morning catchup of Cardinal action. Can’t tell you how much I enjoyed the Harry Caray tape of the 1964 season and all the wonderful memories it brought back. Especially wonderful because I had just got out of the army that summer and I was sharing an apartment with a pal from Philadelphia whom I got to razz during that final push to the pennant!

The Mets and Braves are vying for the 3rd WC and they both won, so we remain 4 back of them. The Giants have been the other team ahead of us and they lost, so we pull even with them. It is starting to get late enough where having too many teams ahead will get virtually insurmountable since even if we start winning, they are not all going to be losing simultaneously. It’s not too late yet, by any means.

Nice to grab a victory now and again. Good pitching makes things easier on everyone.

Baseball is fun and winning is more fun than losing but to change the narrative surrounding this team and these players we need about 9 more in a row like this one.

Doesn’t help that the D’backs and Padres have have been unworldly since the break. Both IIRC are 20-5. I think we’re 11-15 the Giants and Mets are 15-13, Braves are 13-16 and Chicago is 14-12. Which just shows you how staying barely above water can make a difference in your standing and not playing like an under .500 club like we currently are. Just playing at .500 we’d be in a better spot.
