Not sure why Goldschmidt cut off that throw. He was only about 10 feet in front of Contreras.

Mikolas looking very ordinary again. Royals knocking him around.

Gorman is currently striking out 42% of the time! That is beyond terrible! He needs to watch or go to Memphis! No argument for him being in the lineup! Matt Carpenter would be a better choice and that shows how really bad Gorman has become!

I have always felt the Athletics should have stayed in Kansas City. But there was a mutual dislike between city officials and Charlie Finley. Finley wanted to move the A’s to Atlanta, and the city was open to it until they spent some time around Finley and became wary of him.

But had the A’s stayed, I think they would have done much better financially and we would not have the mess in Oakland today. I don’t think MLB would have expanded to Oakland with the Giants already in that area. I think they would have gone to Milwaukee with that market vacated.

Yeah, Gorman needs a reset. As I mentioned earlier, he needs to work on contact and just driving the ball up the middle. At this point he probably needs to do that in Memphis.

It’s sickening that we have to pay Mikolas another $18.5M next year, for more of the same, no doubt.

A Missouri Senator who I remember named Stuart Symington was so incensed when Finley moved the A’s out of KC that he threatened to revoke Big League baseball’s antitrust exemption unless thay made certain that KC would be provided with a Big League baseball team post haste. They took the Senator seriously as that threat was the primary driving force which pressured the prompt formation on the Royals in KC.

And just as we are demoting Gorman he doubles off the lefty!

Pham puts it in play to get one back. Scott a tough match up here. Maybe try laying one down?

I agree Chip and Brad though – Scott looks much better than he did in April. He is making much better contact.

A walk and a Gorman double lead to a Pham groundout RBI.
    5-4 KC

Goldy hasn’t made an out yet.

Yeah, Finley was not well liked. He alienated the Kansas City C of C and officials, and as I said Atlanta was courting a big league team and wanted the A’s at first. But the principles involved were turned off by Finley the more they were around him.

Finley was one of those guys that rubbed people the wrong way. One of my favorite stories was from Mudcat Grant, who did some singing at clubs in the off-season. One time he introduced the song “Please Release Me” by dedicating it to Charlie Finley. 😁

Let’s bring Saggese up and see what he can do. Liberatore got sent down for awhile, Thampson got sent down. No reason they couldn’t send Gorman down. It’s either send him down now and let him get started on working on his hitting now, or wait for the offseason and hope that he will be able to work out his problems by spring, 2025.

Leadoff double by Donny is advanced by a Goldschmidt groundout.

Pages PH’s for Gorman, and walks. First and third, one down.

I don’t know how they can flip flop the call at 1B, and the challenge on the slide rule is inane.

What the heck was Donovan thinking? Why didn’t he run?? And why didn’t Pop tell him to run, or did he?

I’ll also say that the entire concept of the slide rule is inane. It’s one of the many reasons of the many reasons that I sometimes miss baseball. Whoa…Scott with the 2 out, 2 RBI double!

Biggest hit of young Victor’s career. Now let’s see if this bullpen, which has been a little unsteady of late, can bring this home. Great work so far from them keeping it close.
