Sorry, I meant TCN #1 prospects. Certainly the team has developed some very good players, but the curse of the TCN Top Prospect appears to be very much alive. 😦

I agree there are more bad examples, but there seems no credit given for the good moves.Calling Pham, Piscotty and Grichuk evaluation mistakes seem contrary to fact. They were known quantities who apparently each left for different reasons.
Citing Marco is premature until O’Neill shows us how good he can be. If I remember correctly, you are one of O’Neill’s backers. If so, you can’t have it both ways.
Pugs, in spring camp, Reyes was ok. Just 10 baserunners in eight innings. 4 hits, 6 walks and 8 Ks. Walks were high, but not crazy. .143 batting average against. 4.50 ERA (4 runs). I get that he wasn’t ready for the eighth. Brebbia is the guy I don’t get why they don’t put more trust in.
Regarding Reyes’ replacement, I agree with Goold’s first post, but not his second. If Reyes wasn’t ready, Cabrera surely is not. The latter struggled in big league camp and did not look in minors camp when I saw him, either. His time is not now, IMO.
At this point, the Cards need a more proven option. Webb had a good spring. I’d give him the look along with Ponce de Leon. The P-D reports the Cards are going with 13 pitchers again, so Munoz will be replaced with a pitcher.
Another, ahem, option would be Genesis Cabrera. He is on the 40-man roster. He does throw lefthanded. And the Dodgers are coming loaded with lefthanded hitters. This is the equation the #Cardinals are trying to solve. https://t.co/AsASNXlJfY

61 hits and 89 s/o’s through eight games. That’s an inversion that will make us watch others play in Oct. glad to see Reyes sent to Memphis, he just wasn’t ready yet.
I’m going to cut Goldschmidt a wide berth. I do believe he’s a total pro who puts winning above all else, until he proves me wrong. Probably the closest thing we’ve had to Edmonds in 10 years or so.
Epstein came out and took the blame for the cubs bad start. Mozeliak would never take the blame for the awful team he has put together for many years now. This team in 2019 is no different than 2018 or 2017. Going nowhere for the 4th year in a row.
well wewnt out and enjoyed myself today so I didn’t see the game. but I followed it best I could. we keep putting miller in these spots where we are ahead and he always blows it. I would rather they have brebbia in there even with him pitching two innings yesterday. I have more faith in a tired brebbia than a rested miller. far as the lineup goes. I don’t understand why wong or bader, depending on the pitcher, isn’t being moved up to second so we can get some speed where it matters and get goldy batting third where he belongs. so far im thinking that the boost the club got last year was due more to matheny leaving than schildt coming in. im glad reyes is going down, he needs more game time in the minors. I think it will help him and he will get back up assuming he stays healthy. I don’t understand why this team seems to play so poorly at home. we didn’t play well at home last year. but there is always tomorrow.

great post there bwalton about the eight relievers. its very sad. the pitchers have to throw more strikes or at least pitches that look enough like strikes the batters have to swing at them.

Was just about to post this. It’s rather pathetic that the starting pitching can’t go deeper into games. And don’t get me started on the manager’s wacky maneuvers. I am still trying to understand double switching out your cleanup hitter, that finally went yard this weekend. And hitting the real MOTO bat you just paid a new 5 year franchise record contract just to hit in the 2 hole. But said I wasn’t gonna get negative yet, but they are making it hard. Heard boos today while listening on the radio. This could get ugly if things don’t change in a hurry. As I said before the game, storm clouds are brewing on the western front.
I wondered about double switching Ozuna out too but then I realized that normally the last out is the guy switched out. It meant Ozuna was the goner but if you wanted to keep him than Goldy was next up and Carp after him. The purpose is to move the pitcher down in the batting order so I guess Ozuna was the better bet.

When Shildt elected to bat Wacha with the bases loaded and two outs I flinched but then realized that he was thinking there was a lot of game left and it was looking like the pen was going to have to take on a lot of that. Still – I flinched at the thought of the pitcher batting with the bases loaded. Oh well.
