6:45 p.m. RHP Michael Wacha (1-0, 4.64) vs. RHP Zach Davies (2-0, 1.19) FOX Sports Midwest // KMOX

Update: With Wacha placed on the injured list Monday, his replacement will be Daniel Ponce de Leon (season debut).

The Cards have traditionally hit Davies hard, and his profile this year so far is pretty unsustainable (90+% strand rate). Given that, I expect the offense to score some runs.

Ponce hasn’t been stellar yet but I’d take 5 innings and 2-3 runs from him as the bullpen is relatively fresh.

If that happens, I’d expect a 6-4 type win.

Ponce is getting the start mainly because this is his day to pitch. He’ll return to MEM after the game.

Will this game be played? Its my understanding there’s a good chance of rain in the St. Louis area tonight around game time.

I like the fact that we have an everyday lineup. However, I don’t like Goldberg hitting 2nd. I would flip-flop him and DeJong in the lineup above.

This is, however, probably the first time in Cardinal history that we have two Paul’s back to back in the lineup.

Rats, I just arrived at the stadium. Mostly cloudy but rain not expected until around 9:00 pm. (40% chance increasing thru the evening). First pitch at 6:45. They need to get ahead early and stay ahead.

Great throw by Fowler to catch Yelich at home. Yelich went way wide at the plate and Yadi had to tag him after the play stopped. Weird, but out nonetheless.

Fowler was backing up Martinez, who made a sliding attempt on a ball that may have been catchable. Then we see the other side, as Martinez gets a hit after Ozuna did the same. Molina drives in Ozuna on a single he tries to stretch into a double to make the score 1-0 after two innings.

Wong didn’t handle that exchange cleanly and makes an error.

    Now a IBB to Yelich.

Some missed opportunities that may come back to bite us.

Very important to watch Ponce moving forward. Yelich is lurking if a guy gets on.

And it’s 1-1 after an Arcia blast.

They should get the pen up.

Arcia tagged that one hard, but PDL comes back with the s/o on Davies. He’s pitching well, but our guys need to start scoring. I feel like dam’s going to break on Davies pretty soon.

Nice job getting Yelich. Time to bring the pen out. He’s done his best.

Now there’s the Miller the Cards paid a bunch a millions for. He faced 3 and K’d 2 in the 8th. Game still tied at 2.

Cards facing Wilson in the 8th. Good chance to ring up a couple I think.

I don’t think any of us have given DeJong enough credit for the season he is having. HR puts Cards up 3-2 in the eighth.

I thought it may take a big fly for us to get the lead back. Nice oppo shot DeJong. 3-2

Okay, my timing was good I must admit. Paul DeJ goes deep.

Miller looked impressive in the 8th. Does he stay in for a 2-inning save? Yadi just extended the lead to 4-2 driving in Martinez with a 2-bagger.
