6:45 p.m. RHP Michael Wacha (1-0, 4.64) vs. RHP Zach Davies (2-0, 1.19) FOX Sports Midwest // KMOX
Update: With Wacha placed on the injured list Monday, his replacement will be Daniel Ponce de Leon (season debut).

stlcard25ParticipantThe Cards have traditionally hit Davies hard, and his profile this year so far is pretty unsustainable (90+% strand rate). Given that, I expect the offense to score some runs.
Ponce hasn’t been stellar yet but I’d take 5 innings and 2-3 runs from him as the bullpen is relatively fresh.
If that happens, I’d expect a 6-4 type win.

ParticipantPonce is getting the start mainly because this is his day to pitch. He’ll return to MEM after the game.
April 23, 2019 at 2:03 pm #88534Will this game be played? Its my understanding there’s a good chance of rain in the St. Louis area tonight around game time.

April 23, 2019 at 2:07 pm #88539April 23, 2019 at 3:12 pm #885441. Matt Carpenter (L) 3B
2. Paul Goldschmidt (R) 1B
3. Paul DeJong (R) SS
4. Marcell Ozuna (R) LF
5. Jose Martinez (R) RF
6. Yadier Molina (R) C
7. Dexter Fowler (S) CF
8. Kolten Wong (L) 2B
9. Daniel Ponce de Leon (R) PApril 23, 2019 at 3:47 pm #88549I like the fact that we have an everyday lineup. However, I don’t like Goldberg hitting 2nd. I would flip-flop him and DeJong in the lineup above.
This is, however, probably the first time in Cardinal history that we have two Paul’s back to back in the lineup.

Rats, I just arrived at the stadium. Mostly cloudy but rain not expected until around 9:00 pm. (40% chance increasing thru the evening). First pitch at 6:45. They need to get ahead early and stay ahead.
April 23, 2019 at 7:02 pm #88560Great throw by Fowler to catch Yelich at home. Yelich went way wide at the plate and Yadi had to tag him after the play stopped. Weird, but out nonetheless.
April 23, 2019 at 7:22 pm #88561Fowler was backing up Martinez, who made a sliding attempt on a ball that may have been catchable. Then we see the other side, as Martinez gets a hit after Ozuna did the same. Molina drives in Ozuna on a single he tries to stretch into a double to make the score 1-0 after two innings.
April 23, 2019 at 7:32 pm #88563Wong didn’t handle that exchange cleanly and makes an error.
Now a IBB to Yelich.
April 23, 2019 at 7:36 pm #88566Nice start by Ponce.
April 23, 2019 at 8:07 pm #88567Some missed opportunities that may come back to bite us.
April 23, 2019 at 8:09 pm #88568Very important to watch Ponce moving forward. Yelich is lurking if a guy gets on.
April 23, 2019 at 8:12 pm #88569And it’s 1-1 after an Arcia blast.
They should get the pen up.
April 23, 2019 at 8:14 pm #88570Arcia tagged that one hard, but PDL comes back with the s/o on Davies. He’s pitching well, but our guys need to start scoring. I feel like dam’s going to break on Davies pretty soon.
April 23, 2019 at 8:17 pm #88571Nice job getting Yelich. Time to bring the pen out. He’s done his best.
April 23, 2019 at 8:30 pm #88572Nice Piece of hitting by Goldschmidt. Choked up a bit made contact. 2-1
April 23, 2019 at 9:18 pm #88574Now there’s the Miller the Cards paid a bunch a millions for. He faced 3 and K’d 2 in the 8th. Game still tied at 2.
April 23, 2019 at 9:21 pm #88575Cards facing Wilson in the 8th. Good chance to ring up a couple I think.
April 23, 2019 at 9:21 pm #88576I don’t think any of us have given DeJong enough credit for the season he is having. HR puts Cards up 3-2 in the eighth.
April 23, 2019 at 9:21 pm #88577I thought it may take a big fly for us to get the lead back. Nice oppo shot DeJong. 3-2
April 23, 2019 at 9:22 pm #88578Okay, my timing was good I must admit. Paul DeJ goes deep.
April 23, 2019 at 9:25 pm #88579Martinez walks, more brewing . . . so to speak.
April 23, 2019 at 9:26 pm #88580Miller looked impressive in the 8th. Does he stay in for a 2-inning save? Yadi just extended the lead to 4-2 driving in Martinez with a 2-bagger.
