Good call. Wainwright was at 97 pitches, wouldn’t last another inning. Bases loaded. Even a run brought home would probably seal the game. Six runs home kind of help.

Participantsorry guys im a little behind, I recorded it.
September 13, 2019 at 9:41 pm #106134I hereby issue an official request to the skipper of our St. Louis Cardinals to PLEASE show some compassion for our opponents and call off your dogs!! No team should ever endure this kind of a royal arse kicking( except to the cubbies)….enough is enough, Mr. Shildt!
September 13, 2019 at 9:47 pm #106135Pugs, while you’re at it, can you ask to save a few runs for the next 17 days?

Participantwell we got goldy going, just got to get ozuna and dejong going here and we got this. wong is doing great fowler has done his job at leadoff. while id like to see yadi and bader hit a little better, if the other guys are just doing what they are capable of, we can absorb some of that especially given yadis and baders defense.

Participantthis has me really looking forward to tomorrow. im gonna be at my first game this year, in fact my first one in a couple of years. hopefully we will score a lot tomorrow. didn’t even realize Flaherty was gonna be pitching when I bought the tickets.
September 13, 2019 at 9:57 pm #106138No problemo, CardsFanInChiTown. I think we just may not only take these guys 3 straight…..but do so in grandiose style to the tune of double digit victories in all 3 games. There has never been 3 consecutive COD (that’s “Call Off the Dogs” to the layman) games in a series…..but that could change this weekend…..oh boy that could change.
September 13, 2019 at 9:58 pm #106139Looks like a dandy game to be going to with Flaherty dealing, Willie…..wish I were going with you. Have fun!!
September 13, 2019 at 10:00 pm #106140Waino is pitching like a 30 year old! Could he go on a run like Carp did in 2011 down the stretch and in the playoffs?
He’s also 2 starts away from hitting his final bonus level. He has already made $6 in bonuses on top of the $2M base. Worth every penny!
The site I found that on is typically pretty accurate.

Participantbader, three strikeouts is just horrible. a player has to constantly adjust. he was hot when he came back because the pitchers were used to him swinging at anything before and thought he would do the same but he was taking pitches and the pitchers were getting behind. they adjusted and are now throwing him first pitch strikes, lots of them right down middle. hes just taking them and getting behind every at bat. the homerun he had was on a first pitch. be aggressive in the zone especially if its a fastball or anything right there.
September 13, 2019 at 10:04 pm #106142Leone on in a mop up role. I love the guy, but that is kind of where he belongs. He has had a few nice games though this year. Last year, next to Dexter and Holland, Leone would have been last on my Christmas card list.

Participantoh I will Pugsley. going with my youngest son. going to check out hall of fame. haven’t went since it was in its original spot. want to get that bobblehead to so gotta line up early.
September 13, 2019 at 10:09 pm #106144Waino is darn fortunate that Charles Albert Comiskey, or any of his offspring, is not his owner, as he just might have came up just a smidgen shy of being on the receiving end of any of those big fat performance bonuses.
September 13, 2019 at 10:11 pm #106145Leone might be pitching himself into being able to get back more than a bag of stale peanuts in a trade…. international money maybe?
September 13, 2019 at 10:12 pm #106146Bobblehead day….sweet deal, Willie! Who is the bobblehead tomorrow?
September 13, 2019 at 10:14 pm #106147Thus far Shildt has done a fantastic job about not piling on any more runs. Good show Skipper!
September 13, 2019 at 10:18 pm #106149Even though he just whiffed, this Hudson fellow gives me the impression that he can handle the lumber at the dish.
September 13, 2019 at 10:24 pm #106150cubbies only won their game by 9 runs today, while we won ours by 10. Those boys are taking a back seat to us in a lot of categories this year.
September 13, 2019 at 10:28 pm #106151That’s a wrap…. 10-0 Birds your glorious final.
September 13, 2019 at 10:34 pm #106152Congrats Cardinals, looking good all around. Good team win and a big night for Goldy! Go Cardinals!

Participantwell Pugsley it is the red shoendist, stan musial double bobblehead.
September 13, 2019 at 10:46 pm #106155Sweet bobbleheads, Willie! If you see any extra ones laying about, please snag it for me. You and your son picked a dandy! I’m calling it 11-0 Good Guys.
September 14, 2019 at 1:18 am #106157Just win baby!

ParticipantRatsbuddy….
I ate six (6) of them there catfish fiddlers so something tells me the Cards will score six runs tonight. I’m calling this one 6-3 Cardinals.
You should have eaten four more fiddlers. And as for the 3 runs against us… did you forget Yelich wasn’t there to hit 3 homers.
September 14, 2019 at 8:11 am #106166Good point with the catfish fiddler-Esteemed Rat connection, Nyquist. If Rat had only downed one more fiddler in those opening two games in the Mile High City, we’d be looking at a 6 game advantage over the cubbies right now instead of 4. No fear though, as this Cardinal team is much much better than the one earlier this year who were terribly intimidated with the Wrigley field surroundings. If anyone thinks that the cubs are going to sweep our Birds again, at any venue, they are immensely mistaken. Darting quickly back to the all important catfish fiddlers issue, I just goggled Catfish Augustus Hunter to see if he just happened to have the name “Fiddler” as a possible obsure nickname…..and he did not. Has a classy ring to it though….Catfish “Fiddler” Hunter. Sadly, Catfish has now been dead nearly 20 years to the day….. having succumbed to Lou Gehrig’s disease at the tender age of 53.
