A lot of relatively hard contact off Cmart so far. Dex with a nice leaping grab to get the 2nd out. One more to go and Carlos needs to bear down. It’s 2-2 to Longoria now and he whiffs him! 1-0 Cards!!

September 3, 2019 at 9:00 pm #104984Odd how Carlos’ injured arm keeps him out of the rotation but allows him to pitch back-to-back-to-back-to-back days.
September 3, 2019 at 9:01 pm #104985Wonderful. Nice win.
September 3, 2019 at 9:08 pm #104988Cubs are off tomorrow (Wednesday) and then they start a four game series in Milwaukee. If the Brewers have any hope, NL Central or a Wild Card, they need three out of four here.
September 3, 2019 at 9:30 pm #104991One cannot look at a cubs game in Miller Park as a cubs road game. It’s a total push. The cubbies feel mighty comfy in Milwaukee with their throngs of Chicagoans in tow. The cubbies will be very testy on the heels of getting shut out two consecutive games in their yard by the Crew. At best, Milwaukee gets a split of this 4 game series.
September 3, 2019 at 10:01 pm #104996Those three defensive plays that Edman made in the fourth were shutdown plays that might have made the difference in this game, IMO.
September 3, 2019 at 11:49 pm #104997Agreed mud. Great plays and the team is playing great baseball. Offense and defense picking up pitching when necessary and pitching picking up offense when necessary. That’s how you win baseball games consistently
September 4, 2019 at 3:27 am #105001Congrats Cardinals on winning a close one. Go Cardinals!
September 4, 2019 at 5:38 am #105003The team looks and is a bit tired. Six games in four days will do that to you plus they have another five to play before they get a day off and that is on the road – ugg. GO CARDS/
September 4, 2019 at 5:48 am #105004Thankfully Ozuna broke out of his 0-19 rut and put one in the upper reaches of Big AC land. I want him back next season. Carlos is not going anywhere and if he is shipped out he will be a failure at his next team – no baby daddy Yadi to slap some sense into him daily.
Did not anybody else see the graphic on last nights game that our 1b is FIRST in MLB in first base defense! Congrats Goldy.
Today should be a test for Wacha – short rest and an opponent like Madbum. But Madbum will be the test for the offense which seemed to have an off day yesterday.

The good thing is that with the expanded roster, you can still give just about everyone a day off and still field a competitive lineup. Pretty much all the Memphis guys have been hot too so you probably won’t lose a ton mixing Arozarena and O’Neill into the OF, Sosa for Dejong, or Knizner for Yadi. I’d probably start today with Arozarena in right against Madbum, but we’ll see what Shildt does.
September 4, 2019 at 7:03 am #105010It would be nice to score more than 1 run for Flaherty. That is the 12th time this season we’ve scored 1 run or less when he is pitching.
