    FYI here,
The Mets have fired their manager, Carlos Mendoza. The new Giants manager, the college guy Vitello, he might be next.

Anyway, as I type this the Doppler Radar shows a lot of green stuff in the midwest which includes the greater metro St. Louis area. There also appears to be a storm cell moving directly towards St. Louis at the moment.

The good news is that it’s several hours from game time and all seems clear to the west of Busch. I anticipate this game being played with no problems.

And it is indeed a CCFF – Cardinals Catfish Fiddlers Friday!

I don’t know anything about this Marlins starter but his numbers suggest he his going to be a tough cookie.

In other news, tonight we we’ll see if Misioroswki can cool off the Cubs.

The ‘Lins are a club pretty evenly matched to us. This starter looks like he will be handful as gscottar mentioned, so the betting line probably favors the men from Miami.

Think we are making homemade mini-pizzas tonight, but at this time I am not 100% sure.

For did din, I have some frozen breaded catfish filets that go in the air fryer. They aren’t too bad. Can’t get fiddlers and ever since King Edwards closed, any catfish filets around here aren’t any better than the frozen ones. I like to mix a dab of horseradish in with tartar sauce. Also have a baguette from BreadCo I’ll make into garlic bread in the broiler.

We are doing our usual friday night pizza night. My wife likes black olives and I do not so I will stick with pepperoni on my half.

You’re not kidding, Bling. I sure do miss that catfish, with coleslaw, hush puppies and fries lunch or dinner at King Edwards. Not only was it a first rate meal, but the price was way better than reasonable. Even the iced tea was top shelf. All things must pass, but it sure would be nice to be at Kind Edwards passing the tarter and cocktail sauce on a Friday evening.

We generally put pepperoni and Kalamata olives on our mini-pizzas. Now and then green bell pepper. We use the Stonefire bread, pasta sauce, Italian seasoning and mozzarella cheese. They are super easy and yummy!

We’ll throw together a tossed salad as well.

Gonna hit the gym first, then din-din and some Redbird baseball.

As usual, no catfish around here but the CiFs went with a din-din of salmon filets baked in a puff pastry with a cream-shallot-mustard sauce, preceded by a cold cantaloupe and followed by a lovely fruit salad.

So let’s add a little marlin to our catfish and salmon.

Boy, that salmon sounds real good too, CIF. And you can’t hardly beat a perfectly ripened and sweet cantaloupe.

It’s going to be iffy as far as whether or not there is a rain delay in this one. It looks clear again to the west but there is a small green cell around the metro St. Louis area.

I believe the game will ultimately be played with or without a delay.

And the Reds are leading the Pirates and Skenes 4-1 in the top of the 2nd.

Hmmmmm……Skenes isn’t quite tearing it up so far this year. I wonder if the words Tommy John might be coming into play with him?

Skenes is good, but he’s got a long road ahead of him to reach 288 career W’s and over 4700 IP’ed. And Tommy pieced together a 26 season Big League career. I’m guessing Skenes will end up a little shy of those marks…

Gamecast says Misiorowski hit 105 mph in the 1st inning. Needless to say, it was 6 Cubs up 6 Cubs down in the first two innings.

And the mention of an interminable career from a pitcher conjures up a little baseball trivia…Who’s the pitcher that holds the all time record for most Big League seasons? No hint on this one because the correct answer should be real easy for this elite squad of baseball experts.

Their gun’s a little off…He was consistently hitting in the upper 170’s during his warmup session in the BP.

I always like it when they show that dark control room in NY. If you look closely, many times you can get a glimpse of Vito stepping out of view just as the camera goes to the replay booth…

Obviously the Cardinals could really use 6 or more innings of decent work from McGreevy. He’s half way there after 53 pitches, so he probably needs an inning or two that doesn’t involve any heavy lifting.

No score in the 4th at Busch.

Suzuki homers off Mazeroski to put the Cubs up 1-0. In the 5th now at County Stadium.

Reds over the Pirates 6-4 in the 8th at Forbes Field.

Typical McGreevy game – he keeps us in it but we never seem to score much in his starts. Nice work after the first.

McGreevy with a great game, but the Marlins pitcher is at 66 pitches through 6 innings. At some point, the batters need to make a decision not to swing at the first pitch they see.

Cardinals with what’s been their best chance against Meyer in the 7th.
