How’s this for tough luck? In 1959 Harvey Haddix worked a 12 inning perfect game and was the losing pitcher of decision on an E-5 followed by a walk off RBI double in the home half of the 13th in MIL. It’s a textbook example of why a CG shutout will always be better than a no-no…

    UPDATE:

I was in error. Milwaukee leads Cleveland 1-0. I had it backwards.

Speaking of which…..the year I taught school there was a handicap kid in a wheelchair. His name was David Goforth. We used to call him David GoBackwards.

Most recently Jon Jay was a frequent target of the HBP, Bikemike, but I recall my favorite position player at the time, Orlando Cepeda, was a regular target for opposing pitchers. And when Cha-cha got plunked, there were almost always words exchanged and at other times, major wars would break out on the field of play…Haha!

Ivan gets nailed again and didn’t look to be at all happy about it. At some point, retaliation is the natural order of things.

I guess the thinking is get as much out of Andre as possible because you never know with this bullpen. Feels like we need some insurance. We shall see.

Jordan hit it right on the proverbial screws, but couldn’t drive it past Machado at 3B.

The Bogsider from Derry with the sliver of a 1 run lead to try and seal it for the W. Best to have the nitro pills on hand…

No muss no fuss…O’Riley O’Brien seals it shut for SV #18 and Redbird victory number 40! The Cardinals try once again tomorrow afternoon to reach the 10 above sea level plateau.

The Cardinals are now featuring some nice pitching performances. I’d say that’s real good.

Pallante is on pace for 18 wins.

And the Cards have clinched winning the season series against San Diego, in case they end up tied at season’s end.

Josh Baez with a “Mark Whitten” tonight.

McGreevy, May and Pallante now at 2.99, 3.75 and 3.76 ERA’s respectively. The other two members of the 5 man at 4.64 and 4.71 which I’d say that by today’s standards are near or at decent. In any case, back in March. I would have guessed that the SP’ing for this year’s edition would have been disastrous, so I’m unquestionably playing on house money.

Bad news in MIL as the Brewers win 2-1 over the Indians. The winning pitcher of decision, Ashby, is now 10-0.

And more bad news as the Reds won again over the Mets. 5-3 your final at Crosley Field.

But the good news is that the Cubs lost tonight. Colorado wins 5-2 at Wrigley.

And the Doyers win over Tampa Bay 1-0. Anybody wanna guess how they got that one run?

And he is a middle reliever. How odd is that?
