That was a truly great play by Winn to get the DP and save a run.
No Brian – I haven’t heard a thing about Molina. I didn’t watch the pre-game, but have listened the whole game.
I believe this is our first starter to pitch into the 8th this season. Heck, we haven’t gone more than 4 several times.
I would assume that’s it for May and we will see O’Brien in the 9th much to fan’s dismay. O’Brien needs a bounce-back and May would be pushed over 100 pitches, which isn’t kosher nowadays, but I could see them letting May try to keep the 1-hitter with O’Brien warming up in case anyone reaches.
Of course it would be nice to get a run and let it be Graceffo warming as a back up.
The Cubs and Rockies are tied 1-1 in the last of the 6th at Wrigley.
The Reds lead the Mets 9-0 in the 8th at Riverfront Stadium.
About time to flip over to the Rays and Doyers from Doyer Stadium.
Would have been nice to get the 2 out RBI after the BK. No lead is ever safe and we’ve seen them evaporate in a hurry lately.
What a start by Dustin May. He was in control thr whole time attacking hitters. He was mostly fastball heavy with some really good sweepers thrown in as well
What do you know…May features the CG shutout. I’m guessing he leads the league in those two categories…
One heck of a game by May. He had great stuff tonight. Credit Masyn Winn for saving a hit and saving a run on another play. Fantastic performance.

Per MLB’s stats this is the 9th complete game of the year, and no one has 2, so May is tied for the lead. Either he should be good trade bait or he should be fun to see pitch for the Cards if they make it to the postseason. Does May remind anyone else of Tormund from Game of Thrones?

I just now noticed that DC leads the entire Big Leagues with 399 runs scored. I would have never guessed.
All jokes aside, I wasn’t aware that they don’t take cash at Busch Stadium for anything at all. That’s the lousiest thing I’ve heard in way more than a minute or two. In my estimation it’s a first rate insult. Cheap and common…
Alls well that ends well. I just polished off a giant bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream and I’m off work tomorrow. With no charges on my debit card. So Dustin May is pitching well and Noot is back in town. Call me an interested observer.
Tonight’s CG shutout from May was only the 6th in the entire Big Leagues this season. I wouldn’t have guessed there had been that many. The only no hitter so far this season was accomplished by the efforts of 3 different pitchers.
May has been really good for us since those first two clunkers that he had. He sort of get the feeling that any game that he starts is going to be a win for the Cards. That’s a pretty nice feeling to have, and it hasn’t been that way for quite some time in our rotation. He should either be a contract extension candidate or he’ll fetch a nice prospect or two at the deadline.

Yeah, I think most venues have gone away from cash. A few years ago I went to a Rockies game and I knew there was something about either only accepting cash or vice versa, so I stopped at an ATM and got like $60 cash to be prepared. But then when I got tieee I saw it was the other way around. 😀
I think it is just easier for the vendors to use electronic payments, especially with tap-n-pay technology.
Last night’s gem wasn’t all that dissimilar from his performance to a game I saw May pitch in Milwaukee earlier this year. He had a no-no going in that one too and whiffed 9 with no walks, but the Crew ended up clipping us late. We old timers gleefully recall how John Tudor pitched for us after coming over via trade. Well, May could possibly be poised to do likewise. If this team continues it’s solid play and is nestled in the midst of playoff contention, there is no way that the Cardinals will trade May at the deadline. To do so would send a terrible message to the team, especially it’s young impressionable players. Not that they would abandon the plan and go on a spending spree, but they will not throw the towel in on the fantastic play that the team has unexpectedly put forth.
