Really good job by Soriano there to not even let the runner advance
May 19, 2026 at 9:47 pm #307790Wetherholt with a hit and then Herrera walks it off with a 3 run tater
May 19, 2026 at 9:48 pm #307791Thank goodness! Had the makings of a epic meltdown.
May 19, 2026 at 9:48 pm #307792I started to say that if they don’t push this winning run across, I’ll tip-toe all the way to Georgia…So Herrera pushes across 3 with the walk-off tater!
May 19, 2026 at 9:57 pm #307793Pugs was nearly a prophet with the 6-4/Burly HR call.
These folks are really bad for my heart.
Good to see Soriano continue to develop in the pen and Wetherholt back to hitting.
May 19, 2026 at 10:11 pm #307794Cardinals are back at this season’s high water mark of 9 games above sea level and take sole possession of 2nd place at 0.5 games in back of the Brewers and .004 pct. pts. ahead of the Cubbies.
May 19, 2026 at 10:16 pm #307795Thank you……thank you very much, Gags. Yeah I predicted 3 things about an hour before our first pitch. I predicted that Burly would muscle up on some high heat and deposit it into the right field cheap seats……and that’s exactly what occurred. I then forecast the Pirates scoring 6 runs……and that’s exactly what occurred. And finally I wrote that our Cardinals would score 4 runs……and fortunately I short changed them 5 runs. I’m elated to be wrong about that one. But I take solace in the fact that in baseball a consistent 2-3 will get you situated in Row 1 Seat 1 in Cooperstown.
May 20, 2026 at 5:11 am #307796Caught this one on replay this morning. I was developing a serious case of heartburn when Herrera gave me a soothing glass of after breakfast grape juice.
May 20, 2026 at 9:59 am #307807I had to turn in but the box score looks like tater salad. Nice. Riley has quite a few blown saves already.
May 20, 2026 at 10:28 am #307808Yeah, yesterday’s makes 4 in 17 chances. If the former number continues to increase the Cardinals will be in trouble. Yesterday a couple of HBP’s got him into trouble and the GIDP came close to getting him off the hook, but he just couldn’t escape the inning and seal the W. I think he’ll bounce back as long as he retains the mindset in which to trust in his talent and aggressively go after hitters. Hes still only surrendered 3 BB’s this season which, in my view, is unquestionably the key to his or any other 9th inning guy’s success. As long as he asserts himself by throwing strikes to jump out ahead of hitters, I think he’ll be fine. I hope so, anyway.
