Homemade beef-roni, large tossed salad with all of the fixings, watermelon and a tall glass of cool Colorado spring water. Taking in consideration what time of year it is, the weather and our opponent, BicycleMike’s din-din tonight perfectly fits the bill for being proclaimed Game Thread Din-Din of The Day. Well played, BicycleMike!

I’m calling this one 6-4 Pirates with Burly muscling up on some high heat and depositing it into the right field cheap seats.

We haven’t been crippled by injuries like a few teams have so far. It can have a bad trickle down effect.

I threw pork steaks on the bbq to prove it isn’t drizzling too much for outdoor activities. My two year old grandson stayed out there with me. We got fussed at when we can in a little damp. The boy and I just looked at each other, knowingly.

I haven’t been able to watch but checking the game Libby must have great stuff this start.

And JJ with a 2 run HR

Whetherholt with the 2 run tater. He’s trying to takeover for Albert who used to absolutely terrorize and abuse the Pirates.

Libby pitched so good last start through 4 and fell apart in the 5th. He needs to get out of this otherwise it is a repeat of last week.

    So much for Liberatore dealing.

Thanks for the din-din of the day honor, Pugs! It was indeed scrumptious!

Well a 3-0 lead has dissolved as Libby has been unsteady in the fifth. Am wondering if Winn would have gobbled up that ball that Prieto dived for and missed, and would have started a DP. We will never know.

Sheesh, Cruz drills a hit and it’s 4-3 Bucs.

If Liberatore looks so gassed after 4 innings with 60 pitches I don’t know if he should long term have a rotation spot. Last year he clearly was exhausted in games but he had the potentially valid excuse he had such a major innings jump. But this year he should be able to pitch deeper after a year of build up.

Liberatore’s always impressed me not only as a SP’er that can’t stand prosperity, but also as a pitcher who doesn’t have the ability to make a pitch when he really needs to make one. He simply never seems to be able to escape any sort of trouble.

I thought we managed his innings at the end of last season for a reason.

That pitching change worked well for Pittsburgh. Their reliever Sisk who just came in…….you have to wonder if he’s any relation to that hard hitting outfielder they had back in the day…..Richie Sisk?

Gorman still generates plenty of power. I once thought he had a chance to possibly tater up 40 times in a season when I saw the way the baseball seemed to rocket off of his bat. The problem is that in order to launch, you have to count 3-2-1 contact, liftoff…Contact being the key.

What the hell happened with Saggese? 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and no runs.

Jojo has to cover the bag there. Good job by Burly to recover.

Booyah I missed the Saggasse pickoff and am unsure what he was doing. I had the same question.

It is amazing how much life and volume a single section of the crowd can add to a game. I thought there must be a close to packed housed with so much volume but it is just that one section. A lot of empty seats.

New Pirate hurler Bidois. Sounds French to me. Cardinal announcers pronounce it “Bid-waa”. I would pronounce it “Bid-ois”…..funny, that’s just how it’s spelled. I think we need Cardinal in France to weigh in here to get the correct pronunciation.

I don’t understand the pitch calling by Pages there. O’Brien does not have command of the sweeper tonight so Pages calls for 4 in a row to walk Cruz.

And now Pirates tie it up. O’Brien didn’t have it tonight with the sweeper and if he throws a sinker to Cruz I think he has him

To extras we go. 7-8-9 didn’t put up any fight to walk it off. That bottom 3 if quite bad. At least Scott will be in 2nd as the Manfred man and the good part of the lineup coming up.

It looked like the Bogsider might escape after the GIDP, but he couldn’t quite wriggle off the hook. At any rate, it looked like it was going to be a lot worse for minute there.

Soriano carved him up like a Christmas goose.
