How much longer does Pushard have on his rehab time? I’m guessing Shuster is the odd man out when Pushard is back.

I don’t guess there is any news about when Noot will out on rehab assignment.

The last update I read said Noot is supposed to start his rehab assignment one day this week, possibly Wednesday. I haven’t seen an update in several days though.

Not sure why anybody thinks having Nootbaar back is going to be something really great for the team. He is a career .240 hitter.

Noot may replace Scott, who is hitting .188.

My thinking is Noot returning may instigate a bit of roster movement, MLB and maybe AAA.

Unfortunately I don’t have any info about the Nooter Bling, but I do have some breaking news concerning the din-din situation chez les CiFs. Reliable sources tell us that the family dined early Saturday evening on chicken cashews, that is small pieces of chicken breast seared in olive oil then cooked in chicken broth with onion, green pepper, red pepper, celery, French endive, and/or whatever appropriate veg takes your fancy, all well spiced with ginger, cayenne and cloves. When all was cooked, it was served over plenty of fluffy brown rice. According to these sources iced tea was the beverage of choice, followed by a large bowl of Haagen-dazs vanilla ice cream to cool down the spices.

FYI, I am seriously loving whipping up on the Padres and am looking forward to more of the same over the next two days.

    Rah Cardinals!

The Nootz and his bat almost have to generate a little more offensive production. I also think he provides an intangible presense regarding energy and enthusiasm which never hurts. In any event, it’ll be good to see him out on the playing field again.

It will probably be at least two weeks before we see Noot in the STL lineup. I think he is eligible to come off of the 60 day IL around May 25. If he goes into LF and Church replaces Scott in CF I would think that would have to provide at least a marginal boost to the offense.

Though his numbers don’t jump off the charts yet, Church has been a wonderful addition to this ball club. We need to quickly polish these Pads off and move on to Oakland, so the boys don’t become complacent. They need to stay sharp. If not challenged, boredom could set in. Let’s hope San Diego brings their A game with them for these next 2 games.

Cardinal in France…..that din-din entry of your’s takes the cake! And undoubtedly today’s Din-Din of The Day honors too. Gang, keep those din-din entries coming in today, but thanks to Cardinal in France, I think we are all playing for 2nd place…..which as you all know, is a box of steak knives just like the ones given out in the hit movie “Glengarry Glen Ross”.

If they take the full 20 day rehab assignment then Noot might not be back until June. Remember this rehab assignment is his Spring Training.

It was mentioned last night that Ryne Stanek was named after Ryne Sandberg. If memory serves, Ryne Sandberg was named after Ryne Duren. A three-peat.

Will miss most of tonight’s contest as I am attending a showing of a film Richie “Dick” Allen’s son helmed about his dad and their quest to get him in the Hall of Fame. After the movie is a panel discussion with Goose Gossage and Ferguson Jenkins part of the panel. A bunch of our local SABR gang are going. Was hugely disapppointed as a young buck when we traded Allen after only one year in a Redbird uniform.

My thinking is Noot returning may instigate a bit of roster movement, MLB and maybe AAA.

You would think Scott is odd man out starting when Noot comes back but things can happen with the roster due to various circumstances in thr next 3 weeks. One instance that could effect the roster is the rumored improvement (don’t necessarily buy it) of one Ivan Herrera behind the dish. You would think if he is vastly improved that much that Pozo would be expendable. I mean Yohel hasn’t played since April 26th and with the depth of catching in our minor league system. A 40 man move could be made by simply giving Pozo his walking papers. Just spitballing a bit.

Why is Tommy boy starting instead of Fermin or thr lefty chicken legged Scott 2?

A deeper look is Scott is terrible against righties this season and Tommy played up the 5 at Carlsbad High.

Noot and Urias will return. There is also Jordan and Torres waiting. Nobody on the bench has made himself indispensable, and there is Pozo also sitting around. Crooks is lurking also.

Prieto didn’t do himself any favors at the plate. I didn’t hear any complaints about his defense, though. We don’t really need another batless wonder in the lineup, but I guess it doesn’t matter much among what we’ve got.

I am tired of watching Gorman strike out.

The changeup and high fastball are both problems for Gorman and mostly always have been. He generally swings over the changeup and under or behind the high fastball.

I thought that baseball off the bat of Saggese had a chance to get down when Tatis Jr. began his twirling dance in RF. Church has been reaching base and it’s just a shame that the other 2 slots at the bottom of the order have consistently been a vast sea of nothingness.

I haven’t seen Wetherholt giving away any AB’s. He almost always seems to makes a pitcher work. Base hit from the rookie.

1TD, would you say JJ embodies the Cardinal Way? JJ feels like the perfect guy to plaster on bill boards in STL to me.

a guy hitting .234 might be a hard sell.
