JoJo walks one to keep the walk numbers up but manages to mix in an easy DP and another grounder.
Who will have the 8th? I hope it’s not still Stanek. But I’m almost equally afraid of it being Svanson.
I thought Walker had a chance to be standing on 3B on that Gorman base hit to RF. Jordan has decent wheels for a big kid.
Apparently it will be Stanek for the 8th. It is the bottom of the Brewers’ order, but they walk just as easily.
Cardinals have hits from 7 differnet slots in the order and all 5 runs have stepped on HP wearing a different pair of cleats. I’d have to say that’s a reasonably balanced offensive attack.
Stanek comes in and mostly throws strikes for a very efficient top 8. Great work. I did prefer him to Svanson against these Brewers. I’m not sure what Graceffo has to do though to earn a late inning spot.
Graceffo now making his case to not get high leverage opportunities. Out, double, home run, single. 3 hard hit balls in a row.
O’Brien now coming in with a renewed save situation with Cards up 6-3. One on, one out. You’re right 1TD – it’s never easy.
I thought the pitch Graceffo threw that got hit for a homer was a really good curveball. Sometimes you just get beat.
The ’26 edition Baby El Birdos are playing some first rate baseball right now. I think they all believe they can hustle out on to the playing field and win baseball games.
Somehow this was the game I feared. First against the Brewers, lose and it’s possibly the beginning of a streak. Maybe players get a bit more tight and there’s a chance of a sweep going the wrong way. The bullpen makes it overly interesting again, but another solid 5 from Leahy and the offense sharing the wealth.
Cards have given up 32 runs total over the last 9 games.
Oh, and dinner was chicken lo mein.
I can live with Leahy as a 5 inning pitcher if everyone else is a 6 inning pitcher. And if the bullpen continues to come together
Only issue is the rest of our starters don’t always go 6 innings.
We have to use 5 bullpen guys to seal the deal. Milwaukee had to dig deep as well. Let’s see how this plays out. We could have a Bruhil, Stanek, Svanson and maybe some Shuster sprinkles for a game this week.
This club reminds me some of recent Brewer teams. Had Mo eased up a bit on his quest to win now and send out younger guys for older guys, we might have had more of these kind of teams in the recent past.
But we are enjoying it for the time being. Only guy that was really off tonight was Burly. But then you have Winn and Scott pick up some of the slack.
Was interesting to see Woodford and Graceffo both pitching as they remind me a lot of each other in their delivery and follow through.

What do you mean by teams? Young teams that take time to rebuild? Right now you’re seeing the extreme but what you haven’t seen and who knows what this teams is really about is the pitfalls. We haven’t even really had many injuries yet. The pitching IMO is not great. Will it shape put into a solid staff and pen. No one knows yet.

Ding ding ding. Congrats Gags on nabbing Monday’s Din-Din of The Day honors! Sometimes the occasion simply calls for something basic. Not make a judgement on Mo, just commenting about his “M.O.” and in full disclosure to say I was not always a fan of his deals, nor his contract extensions given to some players. As examples I liked both the Goldschmidt and Arenado deals; did not like the Ozuna deal. Did not like the extensions to Carpenter nor Mikolas, but did like extending Molina.
And yes, “teams” being clubs composed largely from bringing along guys the club drafted and giving them a shot at the big time. Certainly no guarantees that is always the best course of action, and time will tell if we can compete at an elite level in the coming years. But at least at this point, small sample size for sure, we have done well and have a fun team to watch. It does seem we have been a bit charmed. My impression is we have gotten our share of key hits, double play grounders, and clutch plays. But what did Branch Rickey say, something like “luck is the residue of hard work”?
