Nice AB by Walker. Slaps it to right on 0-2 count. He had just chased a fader so not sure why the pitcher put it over the plate at 0-2.
What’s this I see? The Redbirds enjoying an early 4-1 lead over the mighty Dodgers as Gorman and Burleson each mash some taters. That friendly little gypsy and his crystal ball are on a roll…I’d say the Redbirds would do well to hang some more runs up on the board against these guys. Probably going to take around 7 or 8 of them for a W.
Agreed Bling. He almost never looks comfortable swinging 0-2 and he did there. I really like what I’m seeing out of him the last roughly 5-7 games. I don’t care about homers. I just want to see good at bats. He’s been getting more of those.
This club continues to impress me with the ability score runs without all that many hits. You can see this in the MLB team batting stats, where t hey are much higher ranking in runs scored than BA.
Much better start by Libby tonight. 71 pitched through 5 so he should be able to get through 6 at least

Yadier says he doesn’t care too much for these ball/strike challenges…Go figure. I guess after a 19 year Big League HOF career, he’s accustomed to playing genuine baseball. Boy, he could sure play the game.
I think what I’m most excited about with Walker is that he had that cold stretch and was able to keep it short rather than having the bottom fall out for a long while.

Tonight’s game features 5 more RBI’s from the 3, 4 and 5 slots. That’s now 24 runs pushed across from those three important batting order slots in the last 4 games. The teeth of the order continues to generate plenty of production. It’s a lot of fun watching Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen terrorize the oppostion…
El Baby Birdos now at 6 above sea level. I’ve got some more yardwork at the 1TD homestead tomorrow so I’ll be looking for that friendly little baseball gypsy and his crystal ball…He normally appears over by the garden gnome in one of the flower beds. I’ll let you know what he says about game 2 vs. the mighty Dodgers. His crystal ball is one of them good ones…
Scoreboard watched and saw we broke out to an early lead and kept the pressure on. So good to see Walker sustain success for a month now.
Meanwhile the local 9 started in similar fashion as the Cards, hanging 5 on the Braves in the bottom of the first. They carried a 6-1 lead into the 8th, and then their bullpen looked like a bunch of Ryan Stanek’s – walking guys then giving up hits. Braves put 5 runs on the board in the eighth and two in the ninth on a two-run jack by Harris to sneak away with an 8-6 win.
