Yeah, Bikemike, to me the acid test for a 1B’man is how he’s able to handle the bunt. Teams wouldn’t even attempt to bunt with Hernandez situated at 1B. He’d simply start a GIDP on a sac bunt with a pitcher running. Opposing managers learned that it was a better bet to simply let the pitcher swing away and be victimized by a K for a single out. He was something else altogether over there at 1B.
April 29, 2026 at 7:26 pm #306155Gorman has looked good with the glove. I would have put Pozo at DH tonight and Gorman at third. Then start Yohel tomorrow, giving him roughly 8 plate appearances in two days to shake off some rust.
And finally, once Nootbaar comes back Urias would be the odd man out, with Saggesse and Fermin back as mostly infield back up.
April 29, 2026 at 7:27 pm #306156Hernandez was the best for us who saw him play. Just a terrific first baseman.
April 29, 2026 at 7:31 pm #306157Really good start by Pallante. I have to give him credit as I am not his biggest fan. I would try to squeeze another inning out of him on this long stretch but pull him any runners allowed
April 29, 2026 at 7:31 pm #306158For me when Noot is back, Noot plays LF with Church in CF and Scott trying to improve in AAA.
April 29, 2026 at 7:35 pm #306159Zero walks for Pallante was key for him. Fantastic work tonight.
April 29, 2026 at 7:43 pm #306160That was a pitiful throw by their LF in the 7th on Walker’s rbi.
April 29, 2026 at 7:54 pm #306161Stanek never gives you a good feeling when he comes in. His command is so bad that he opens the door to trouble.
April 29, 2026 at 7:56 pm #306162What’s the logic in waiting until the tying run stands in until you go and take the baseball from him? It’s always been like that with this guy.
April 29, 2026 at 7:57 pm #306163Why would you take out Pallante at 90 pitches when he has been well to bring in Ryne Stanek. Stanek is a walk machine
April 29, 2026 at 7:58 pm #306164Should have traded Romero when he had a high value…
April 29, 2026 at 7:59 pm #306165We could have used a better arm in CF there on that can o corn that drove in two. Scott didn’t even contest it.
April 29, 2026 at 8:00 pm #306166Look at him staring out aimlessly onto the field from the dugout…He’s painted himself and the team into a corner…Again.
April 29, 2026 at 8:01 pm #306167My kingdom for a relief pitcher who can throw strikes!
April 29, 2026 at 8:05 pm #306168At least they get out with only 2 runs allowed but Stanek is just not cutting it.
April 29, 2026 at 8:06 pm #306169Good throw by Urias.
April 29, 2026 at 8:08 pm #306170I really thought Graceffo would be the 7th inning guy moving forward or Soriano. I don’t really understand why Stanek still holds that role.
April 29, 2026 at 8:23 pm #306171BB’s and now the Das Boot…This is beginning look like an extended Allman Brothers jam session…
April 29, 2026 at 8:24 pm #306172That should have been a double play and inning over. But Masyn blows it. Maybe the wet field comes into play there.
April 29, 2026 at 8:27 pm #306173Run scores on another potential inning ending double play. This one was tough with a high chopper. JJ made an excellent play to get it to Winn quickly for a shot at it. 5-4 now.
Fly out to Walker ends the butt clenching moment.
April 29, 2026 at 8:28 pm #306174Cards escape the 8th still with the lead.
5-4 heading to the 9th.
And FYI here,
Arenado hit his 5th dong of the year tonight in Milwaukee at Miller Park. He is now hitting .287 with 5 homeruns and 17 rbi’s.April 29, 2026 at 8:31 pm #306175This series has had it all, and still has a ways to go. Can we hang on here?
April 29, 2026 at 8:34 pm #306176JJ really chomps on the Dubble Bubble. And speaking of “dubble”, there we go.
April 29, 2026 at 8:35 pm #306177Griffin and Wetherholt – the two phenoms chatting it up.
April 29, 2026 at 8:37 pm #306178Yeah, you’d think he was really mad at that bubble gum.
