Nice W…That’s now a collective work of 20.1 IP’ed from the L/R punch of Romero/O’Brien without allowing a solitary ER.

Jo Jo and O’Brien are lights out. If only our pen had a couple more like them out there we might be alright. Those two might have to throow 100 IP each this year for us to do anything.

I have always liked O’Brien in the closer’s role. He can lose the plate at times, but when his command is there he is great.

And I did not like the deal where we traded Sosa for Romero. But “Get Back Jo Jo” is still dealing while Edmundo Sosa has never been able to grab a starting spot. Course the Phils went over the top signing Turner to play short right after getting Sosa.

I’m with you on that, gscottar. Just a couple more arms that could be termed merely respectable and I’d say the ’26 BP could be very effective. The primary issue may be finding someone who has a bit of an idea of how to properly manipulate the arms out of the BP.

The Brewers and Mets have respectively lost 6 and 7 in a row. The Mets won’t find any bargains when they suit up at Dodger Stadium tonight. The Reds, who we’re chasing, also play out West in SF tonight.

I just now noticed that the Twins have scored more runs than any team in either league. I haven’t checked, but I’m guessing that Oliva and Killebrew are really ripping the baseball…

Nice win while i was at work. Good work by pitchers. Beating the guardians 2 out of 3 is nice though i always feel they are a pretender team even when they win their division. But still nice.

Saw the game today! Looking pretty good to me with no drama in the 8th and 9th. Good to see Pugs and 1td back. Couple mistakes here and there didn’t cost us too much. Gormans gotta run those out. Pitcher can’t miss and throw center-center. So wet the ball wasn’t carrying today. Houstons this weekend Go Cardinals!

It’s hard to believe that Dodger Stadium is now in the same category as Fenway and Wrigley in regards to the three oldest venues in the Big Leagues. I know one thing that’s real easy to believe…This getting old business isn’t for cupcakes. Some days I feel like I need all new grease fittings…

Hey, hey, Wooster! Aren’t you situated down near Houston? If so, I hope you get the chance to take in a game or two.

At the beginning of the season, how many posters would have bet on the Cardinals to not be below .500 at any point during the first 20 games this year?

I correctly predicted they’d be exactly 2 games above sea level on April 15th…I also make a lot of mind bets.

    1td,
The Reds and Giants series is in Cincinnati this week, at Riverfront Stadium. Not at Candlestick Park.

Will the real 2026 St. Louis Cardinals Ace please stand up:

Well “To Tell The Truth”, Dustin Jake “Carrot Top” May, made a huge leap forward in earning that coveted distinction with the quality of his last 2 starts. One must also factor in that the other 4 starters aren’t what one would remotely describe as top notch reliable starting pitchers.

Nice seeing some big time atonement from Church after his early inning miss judgement of a routine fly ball to left. He turned the same trick last night by hitting the walkoff sac fly after earlier forgetting how many out there were from his outfield position. Maybe that’s the key to his success……committing a royal screwup in the early innings, thus providing Church the devine inspiration to atone big time for his error.

And finally my sincere apologies for providing my fellow posters some shoddy pregame predictions. I predicted the Cards winning last night’s game 6-3 and they won 6-5. And then today I predicted our Birds to win 4-3 and they won 5-3. Yes both were extremely close, but close doesn’t cut the mustard around here. It’s perfection we seek and by golly I’ll turn this thing around and start getting you guys some quality pregame prognostications.

    Hey Wooster & Forschster!

Yeah, Pugs, there’s only 3 outs to an inning. Keeping up with that sort of basic elementary arithmetic shouldn’t be too awfully difficult. And Church even went to college for goodness sake!

So, May’s last two starts looked as good as his first two looked bad.

He can cancel that bus ride to Memphis and unpack his suitcase – for now.

Interesting situation to say the least.

May was also good in the spring so it isn’t a total surprise that he is pitching better now. To me, the surprise was how badly his first two regular season starts went. Pitchers are always making adjustments, but then again, so are the hitters.

The new world we live in means that May going six innings/91 pitches is a big deal, especially considering the state of the bullpen beyond the top three. With Thursday off, they could pitch the two best relievers to hold the lead.
