Wouldn’t mind seeing Hjerpe add a little herky-jerky motion to his delivery, though the results look pretty promising after seeing his first 2 brilliant innings in the bigs.

For some reason I was thinking Hjerpe was a whippy arm guy throwing whiffle balls that could go anywhere. Just the opposite. Looks to have total command over everything.

He can get his motion a bit off sometimes Bling, but in general, he’s been known to have good command in the past.

All these lefties seeing Hjerpe for the first time are mystified. I hope we see him go a second time through and see what happens. If he comes back for the 7th, he will be seeing guys a second time.

Future looks bright with this 2026 rookie class of Gassy, Winny, Hjerpe, Bernal, Baez, Matthews……and who am I missing?

Victor picked off 1st to retire the side in the 7th. A play like that has the ability to shuffle the Big M over to the other side……let’s hope it doesn’t here in Denver on this sunny summer Sunday afternoon.

They are pulling some of the lefty hitters looks like.

Scott for Baez in LF, thankfully.

Gorman has been looking pretty smooth over at 3rd……..maybe he’s coming into his own.

Throws a lot of strikes. 4 innings, 54 pitches. Attack dog. Nice debut.

Hjerpe perfectly perfect in his 4 innings. A 5th anyone?

Nice PA by Saggese. Love a bat control guy

The 2023 Texas League MVP looked horrid his first opportunity to seize a job. Looks like he thinks he may have a reprieve. He has more talent than the other guys that may be in competition with him.

If you don’t love The Ferminator then you simply don’t love baseball.

I think we’re reaching “call off the dogs time”, as Colorado is just getting tattooed now…….10-5 Redbirds and still looking for more. Ollie? How about sending Gassy out to pinch hit here.

I keep saying that I’ll watch one more inning and then hit the sack. But these Cardinals just keep on scoring to keep me up.

Gassy bears down after yielding the leadoff McCarthy homer……Gassy is Special with a capital “S”.

The addition of Gastellum, Winquest, and Hjerpe to the pen makes a world of difference. This team is starting to really come together. Had they kept May, they might have really been a threat to at least challenge some of the playoff teams although trading May was still the right thing to do.

There are still some more pieces to put in place, but the situation is so much better than this time last season.

Victor stepping up to the plate carrying a .199 batting average, can get north of the dreaded Mendoza Line right here and right now with a base knock……let’s stay with the action shall we? Now Leonardo gets picked off 1st joining Victor in the dubious distinction this afternoon…..Victor flies out meekly and he’ll have to await escaping the Mendoza Line for another day.
