6:15 p.m.
RHP Kyle Leahy (1-1, 5.40) vs. LHP Ranger Suarez (0-1, 8.64)
FOX // KMOX // WIJRApril 11, 2026 at 9:42 am #304490I went to the Frozen Confines, aka, Wrigley yesterday. It was not 50 degrees out or close to it btw.
Konnor Griffin is an absolute beast! 19 going on 30 is more like it. Smooth swing and seemed fine fielding. Wish he was in the AL! I love all baseball games, but it was quite boring other than paying attention to him.
On the flip side….. The Cards need to significantly front load and lock up JJ, Ivan and Burley…..and heck, maybe even start the back and forth on something for Joshua Baez? More room in 2028-32.
$99M on the books, per COTs in 2026, including the $ sent to BOS and AZ. If they front load those deals, plus Jojo, Noot, May being moved, they might end up at roughly $90 on the year.
April 11, 2026 at 1:46 pm #304502I just looked up Griffin and I’d have to guess that he could be a serious headache for my favorite team for quite some time. The young man is put together like a tank. A very fast and powerful tank that can collect 65 SB’s in 122 minor league games…Sheesh! This kid’s genuine trouble.
April 11, 2026 at 2:31 pm #304503On a good note……
The Pirates lead the Cubs 3-0 in the 4th inning at Wrigley.

April 11, 2026 at 5:07 pm #304521On another good note……
The Cubs pitcher throws a ball away at 1stbase which allows the Pirates to take a 4-3 lead in the 11th.
In the bottom of the 11th the Pirates pitcher throws a ball away at 1stbase which allows the Cubs to end up with 2nd and 3rd and nobody out. Then the next four batters for the Cubs:
Flyball to short RF
Foulout to 1b by Bregman
Intentional walk to Happ to load the bases with two outs.
A 3-0 count to Suzuki and then he fouls out to 1B to end it.4-3 Pirates your happy final.
Cubs blew it.
April 11, 2026 at 5:07 pm #304522Pirates beat the Cubs 4-3 in 11 innings.
Cubs still in last place.
April 11, 2026 at 6:03 pm #304526The lineup. If it works, change it.
April 11, 2026 at 6:36 pm #304527We’re now chasing the Pirates who are perched atop the NLC. So, believe it or not, the Cubs losing today was a bad thing…Priorities.
April 11, 2026 at 6:42 pm #304528Leahy looking good through 2
April 11, 2026 at 6:44 pm #304529Walker takes the low outside pitch in the first for a BB. In the past he would have swung over that. Good to see him seemingly turning the corner.
April 11, 2026 at 6:46 pm #304530Saggese is starting to swing the bat.
April 11, 2026 at 6:53 pm #304531Although Burleson may well be the best hitter on this ’26 edition, it doesn’t bother me too much to see Urias platooning at 1B and standing in from the 5 slot vs the Red Sox LHP’er. I said it doesn’t bother me too much, but if the Redbirds lose this game you just know where I’ll place the blame…Haha!
April 11, 2026 at 7:02 pm #304532Man, Walker had two pitches to mash but took both of them. Needed to be aggressive there.
April 11, 2026 at 7:08 pm #304533Durbin hitting .100! If .200 is the Mendoza line, what is .100? I guess it would be the “Herbel” line, for former Giants pitcher Ron Herbel who was a legendary terrible hitter.
April 11, 2026 at 7:08 pm #304534He still is guessing a lot BikeMike. He’s managing to guess better it seems but then he has at bats like that where he just watches pitches go right by.
April 11, 2026 at 7:10 pm #304535Contreras burns his old club!
April 11, 2026 at 7:11 pm #304536Leahy has either been right down the middle or just a bit high or a bit outside most every pitch. Red Sox finally burned him. Our old friend Willson gets him.
April 11, 2026 at 7:13 pm #304537Yeah jnevel, Walker really looked like he was thinking something else was coming.
Leahy struggling here in the fourth. Missing the zone a lot, and when he gets the pitches in they are being squared up.
April 11, 2026 at 7:16 pm #304538I just now noticed that Redbird coach Jon Jay appeared in 58 post-season games while dressed out in a Cardinals uniform. That’s quite a few high stakes baseball games. To put that into perspective, Albert Pujols appeared in 74 post-season games as a Cardinal. Yadier’s the all time Cardinal King of high stakes games at 104. In any case, Jon Jay was a real solid baseball player for the Cardinals.
April 11, 2026 at 7:18 pm #304539Man, some of those challenged pitches just barely catch the zone. You can see how tough it is for umps to get the call right.
April 11, 2026 at 7:24 pm #304540Yeah Jay stepped in nicely after we traded former top prospect Colby Rasmus to Toronto for primarily bullpen depth. Colby’s dad had a running feud with TLR and it was kind of a soap opera.
Tony was a great manager, but would occasionally get into spats with people. He and Scott Rolen also had a falling out, and Rolen was also dealt to the Blue Jays.
April 11, 2026 at 7:24 pm #304541Yeah, Bikemike, a BA of .100 is about the average weight of an international supermodel. You could call it, ‘The Heidi Klum line’…
April 11, 2026 at 7:30 pm #304542I thought the HPU could give a player, manager, or coach the old heave-ho for challenging ball and strike calls? I liked it better that way. Watching Whitey, Earl or Billy getting tossed was always worth more than the price of a ticket! No more…
April 11, 2026 at 7:42 pm #304559Yeah, Bikemike, Jon Jay also had a crucial base hit and came around to score the tying run on Berkie’s RBI single in the 10th inning of game 6 of the ’11 WS. He also set a record for games without a ‘Das Boot’ in CF while he was a Redbird. Jay was real good baseball player.
