Torres with a 2 out base hit to center scores Burly and this game is knotted at 5-5 in the 8th.
August 21, 2026 at 8:26 pm #316790JJ with a nice throw from the seat of his pants to retire the Phillies in the 8th. We need Baez to go downtown again here in the 9th.
August 21, 2026 at 8:28 pm #316791Oh oh, Duran Duran on to pitch the 9th…….he’s a pretty tough cookie.
August 21, 2026 at 8:39 pm #316792Gassy is downright filthy! Whiffs Schwarber to commence the 9th. Then he promptly whiffs Turner……this long haired gem is near unhittable.
Gets Harper to ground out softly to 2nd to retire the side. To extras we go.
August 21, 2026 at 8:40 pm #316793Gastelum has been so much better lately. He made Trea Turner look silly
August 21, 2026 at 8:41 pm #316794Gutsy for Oli to let Gastelum relieve. He’s gotten knocked around as he finds his footing at the major league level.
August 21, 2026 at 8:41 pm #316795Unfortunate to hear Dobbins left with forearm discomfort. That is the one I feel like always turns into some type of elbow problem after diagnosis.
August 21, 2026 at 8:43 pm #316796Ferminator seems to come up with the timely hit
August 21, 2026 at 8:45 pm #316797Mud, if you count the 9th tonight, Gastelum’s last 6 games he has pitched 7.1 innings striking out 15 of the 24 batters he has faced with 1 walk and 1 hit allowed.
Let’s see if he can close it out.
August 21, 2026 at 8:45 pm #316798McFarlane pitching the 10th and The Ferminator lines a 1 out single to left scoring the sissy runner from 2nd…..6-5 Birds.
* Not referring to Burly as a sissy…..not his fault MLB installed that silly ghost runner rule.
August 21, 2026 at 8:48 pm #316800Back in the day when Nebraska had a good team!
As for our Cards, I like their grit. Portends well for the coming years.
August 21, 2026 at 8:51 pm #316801Wow Fermin just whiffed on that fly ball. It would have tied the game, but that straight whiff loses the game
August 21, 2026 at 8:51 pm #316802When Gassy misses he doesn’t miss by much……oh no what a way to lose.
August 21, 2026 at 8:52 pm #316803How is that not an error and is a triple? He just missed the fly ball.
August 21, 2026 at 8:53 pm #316804Sometimes you need a real center fielder out there.
August 21, 2026 at 9:02 pm #316806This season is quite odd for me in that other than losing to the cubbies, losses don’t really bother me. It’s as obvious as the nose on Jimmy Durante’s face that the future is extremely bright for our Cardinals.
August 21, 2026 at 9:03 pm #316807I thought the same thing, bling. But neither CF was available. Can’t catchers play out there? 😉
August 21, 2026 at 10:29 pm #316808Can’t catchers play out there?
As Dorothy Parker once said, “I wouldn’t be a bit surprised”.
August 21, 2026 at 11:21 pm #316809I went to bed last night top of the 6th with Cardinals leading 4-3 only to discover this morning we got involved with that stupid ghost runner nonsense and ended up losing. Double damn!
August 22, 2026 at 9:00 am #316824Fermin did not play that ball well, but it was a tough play. Those balls hit right at you like that are the toughest to judge, but Jose is not a CFer. Curt Flood, Jim Edmonds, Willie McGee and Victor Scott would have had it. Probably Nate Church as well. Tough to lose on that, but it happens.
Get ‘em today.
August 22, 2026 at 9:56 am #316826Fermin is a good all around ball player. He just doesn’t have much exposure to CF. Next time he might make that play. He will have a better chance at least.
August 22, 2026 at 12:41 pm #316832Dang, I just watched the replay of the ball Fermin missed.
I bet Dane Myers would have hauled that one in..:)
