Is nobody interested in this Friday night game against the Phils? Must all be heading out for a fish dinner I guess.
I, on the other hand, will be dining on beef tacos and refried beans with a nice fruit salad for dessert, then watching a movie on Netflix while trying to stay awake for first pitch.
    Rah Cardinals!

I’m ready to be done with Eastern time games. Bling said in another thread it is an awkward time due to dinner prep and I agree with that.

Well, be thankful it’s not seven time zones away!

As an East coaster, I like the earlier games. The 8 PM or later starts mean I don’t know who wins before I go to bed.

As for dinner tonight, it’ll be homemade pizza on the pizza steel. I could use it on the new grill, but I’ll probably play it safe and use the oven.

Toss caution to the wind and go with your new grill, stlcard25. I won’t be on Lake Michigan this weekend, so it’ll be some tantalizingly tasty catfish fiddlers instead of a fish boil for din-din. It’ll be accompanied by some hush puppies, cole slaw and Hawaii din-din rolls.

Love games in the City of Brotherly Love. About 18 years ago I flew to Philly to take in a 3 game series and had the time of my life. After each game I found my way over to this neighborhood tavern that was always teeming with fellow baseball fans. I even wore my Cardinals cap and encountered nothing but love……..Exhibit A as to why they call it “The City of Brotherly Love”.

I will be doing my usual Friday night fare of Organic Cheese Pizza, Little Debbie Brownie, and Diet Mountain Dew.

The Cards have won five series in a row. Might as well make it six. I like how we play on the road. For some reason there seems to be a more sense of urgency than at Busch.

    It’s another CCFF!
Cardinals Catfish Fiddler Friday. I’ll be dining on them this afternoon out at the Amish restaurant on the lake. Then a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar out on the benches in the patio area.

Oh, and high school football starts tonight. It will be the Evansville Memorial Tigers at the Jasper Wildcats. Should be a dandy. Memorial has beat Jasper the last two years.

And Bruihl will be key in this series. Schwarber, Harper, Marsh, somebody has to hold those lefties down.

They didn’t use Ferguson in Cincy despite a tired bullpen. Any bets on whether he is dropped today? Hjerpe last pitched 5 days ago and could give innings. Or Winquest or Rincon? I’d bet they are short a bunch of relievers today.

Things look fine and dandy from the meteorological standpoint in Philadelphia for this one. The Doppler Radar shows nothing in the area. However, first pitch is still three hours away.

I love the 5:40 start time. I get home from work about 4:15, get dinner started for the family about 4:45 and eating about 5:15-5:30 and then watch the game. Watch the last inning or 2 laying in bed and after the final out lights out and asleep by 9:00-9:30. Perfect for me, who gets up around 5am and staying up to watch the end of 7:00 start times is usually a stretch.

Nothing like those late night west coast games. My favorite games of the year. And even if it’s not the Cards or Reds out west watching other games is also a good thing. Love watching games from Doyer Stadium.

Speaking of which, the Reds are in San Francisco next week. And the Redbirds still have to go to Doyer Stadium this year.

Make it 3 straight years, Rat. I’m calling it Tigers 33 Wildcats 17. Yet another spot-on meteorological report, Rat! On a Friday night during baseball season, it’s hard to believe that only 2 of us are having catfish fiddlers for din-din.

This is a rare game where I don’t have the foggiest idea who is going to come away with the “W”. But I do see The Dobster going 5 2/3 inning strong, yielding just 2 runs on 5 hits. I’m starting to get a little worried with Baez’ power outage. Is Wrigley Field the only ML park that he can put his power on full display? Or maybe it’s just the cubbies that has him seeing red? If so then maybe we are looking at a player that pops 18 dingers a year…..all against those north siders from the Windy City.

Tuned in at the top of the 4th and thought I had the wrong game…maybe Tampa Bay or Miami or maybe Seattle. What’s with those teal uniforms for the Phillys?? Wierd (and maybe a little sacrosanct)! Might be just me since I only watch Cardinals games. Pugs, agree with you on Baez. I want to be a believer in him, but need to see him hit outside Wrigley. On the other hand, if he only hits 18 dingers against the Cubs each year, keep him in the lineup! Reminds me of the U of Nebraska coach who once said if he goes 2-10 on the year and only beats Iowa teams, it’s been a successful year!

Not bad grub for hospital din-dinery, Booyah. Hope you’re better soon so you can bust on out of there.

Cards bat in the 6th in a 3-2 Philadelphia ballgame. A Baez 2 run tater to right accounting for the two Redbird tallies. Luzardo has been a KO fiend thus far whiffing 9……..oh Nelli thar she blows!……Jordan whacks #27 to deep right with a man aboard and just like that the Birds catapult themselves into a 4-3 advantage.

Cards show Luzardo the door with 2 down in the 6th with a runner situated at 1st……Mayza the new Phillies hurler….and Periera greets him with a liner into right-center for a hit. But Torres grounds out 2-3 to retire the side.

I hated Ozborne. Loved running up scores on inferior opponents (Mizzou).

Remember some of those 55-0 and 62-3 scores very well. Nebraska with Osborne and Oklahoma with Barry Switzer had some dandy battles back in the day.
