Doesn’t look at all like a promising pitching matchup but neither team gets to claim any praise until they suit up and play the game.

Not sure this one will be worth watching but me and Whitey Herdog will be on the couch for first pitch. Along with a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar. That should get me through the first 3-4 innings. After that it will probably be a moot point.

And the WhiteSox down the Cubs today at Wrigley. 3-0 ChiSox your happy final.

Brewers entertain Seattle later tonight at County Stadium in Milwaukee. And FYI, Front Row Amy was in attendance last night.

    FYI here,
Some showers went through the Cincinnati area a while ago but they seem to have moved on now. According to the Doppler Radar all is clear for tonight’s massacre.

Not the complete comprehensive meteorological report that Rat usually spoils us with………bet we’ll take it.

Earlier today I was mulling over my 4 favorite baseball announcing tandems of all time and they are as follows:

    1. Harry & Steve
    2. Harry & Jack
    3. Uecker & anyone
    4. Curt Gowdy & Tony Kubek

As much as I hate the cubs, I absolutely cherished watching Harry and Steve call the action. My announcing dream team would have been Harry & Uecker occupying the same booth.

On paper our odds of success tonight look pretty bleak. But we seem to fare pretty well vs opposition Aces. I certainly wouldn’t plop down any moolah on our boys tonight, but wouldn’t be shocked if we came away victorious.

Liby looks good the first time through the order. One hit allowed through 3 innings.

Some small ball gets us 2. 2-0 middle of the 4th.

Blaze is really having trouble contributing to the offense.

Thought we had a chance to chase this Cincy righty in the 4th, but Jordan didn’t come through. Still 2 runs were nice, with Burns only having one more inning in him due to his pitch count over 80.

Libby sharp through 4, yielding only one baserunner(single) and 6 K’s. Pitch count at 60.

You can hear a pin drop on this thread. Looks like the dog days of summer are taking it’s toll on Redbird fans.

Libby looks fantastic tonight albeit against the Reds offense. Still, his pitches are breaking nicely and his control seems good.

Sammy Moll center stage for the Redlegs, as the Cardinals bat here in the 6th. Libby simply marvelous through 5, surrendering just 1 hit and no walks while whiffing 8.

And then it all fell apart . . .

The pitching still has looked sharp although the 3-run homer pitch to Stewart was not so sharp.

I don’t not understand how the coaching staff doesn’t know by now you need to have the bullpen on alert when Libertore gets around 5 innings. It’s almost like he just expects to pitch 5 innings and that’s it. I get the bullpen usage is high but still.

Yeah, I’m not sure if he just gets fatigued and starts grooving lots of pitches down the middle or what. He threw about 4 of them there that last inning.

    Only two runs so far.

    They can’t hit.

    This game is over.

Liam Doyle just struck out 7 in a row and 8 of his last 9.

Well, Stewart is the Rookie of the Night. Not fair to expect JJ to catch that liner just before the HR, but if he had, the game would be tied.

Liberatore coughs it up again just like his last time out. Take him out if he makes it through five innings. Get him prepped for long relief. What’s going through Oli’ mind when he’s watching Liberatore pitch?

Baez starting to diversify. Single, steal, walk the last two times up.

Likely hoping he gets lucky and give the pen a breather would be the best guess.

Coming into tonight’s game the team was 13-11 in games he’s started. If we lose he would be 13-12. Sounds about right for this 2026 team.
