And Svanson gives up a 2 run tater as well. I don’t know what has happened to him this year as it has been a 180 from his performance last year
Well, that was fun watching the Nationals go through all 9 guys for a round of batting practice. Can we get back to playing the real game now?

Most of the back end of our pen is atrocious this year. It’s tough to be good every year but it’s like everyone has regressed. No real excuse for running out a AAA bullpen, but they chose to.
It has been Willie. But Washington probably has the worst pen in baseball and the Cards are probably right there next to them
Ollie has Romero and O’Brien plus an ok Graceffo. Everyone else has been bad.
Pushard was bad all Spring and then bad in his 2 outings.
Stanek has always been a good fastball only guy who is semi-effectively wild.
Bruihl has never been good.
Roycroft has never been good.
Soriano has never been good.
Svanson suddenly turned into a pumpkin.
The pitching staff as a whole is bad with a low ceiling. That major revamp we keep hearing about go acquire strikeout pitchers needs to actually happen at some point.
Cards are dead last in K% with a 14.9 K% and 2nd worse is a full 2% ahead. But then they are still 10th worst on BB%. 5th best GB % rate but that isn’t doing much to help the staff perform.
Major change is still a ways off as guys like Dobbins and Fitts are not guys who K many and are anti patterns for what the FO states they want.
Well to be fair, we got some decent pieces as im sure they do. I just wonder the strategy they employ. Do they stay with these guys that are struggling since we have low expectations or since its still early, do we go down to minors. I think the guys are down there for a reason, to get work. But since we dont really have deep pitching starters, they could get work up here though they will be under more scrutiny up here. Decisions.
Well im not big on whiff guys, maybe 8th n 9th. Id personally rather have pitchers that can pitch it exactly where they want to.
I think they need to keep them down. Dump Bruihl for Naughton possibly. But let the minor league guys fully develop. Let the transition year unfold. Start bringing them up mid season maybe. Or bring up one of Dobbins or Fitts and stick them in the pen if it stays this bad.
I was wondering for any that have stuck around. I read an article about teams where the pitches are being called by the dugouts. Rockies and one other. I wonder what everyones thought is on that. Its like a pony level thing. The runner at second in extras, coaches calling pitches, seems more like majors are becoming like youth leagues instead of other way around.

Hjerpe (injured)Well roycroft can stay there, i still like fitts but he prob does need more work there. In reality, the minors is where it should take place.
An objective this season with all the young players is find out who can play. We are finding out.
A bright spot is we continue to see some bat control, from Walker and from others.
Def agree with that bling. Though i dont think it takes that long with some. Stanek, i think what you see, is what you get. Some of the others may improve. Key word is may. Hopefully some youngsters keep impressing down in the minors.
Didn’t get to tune in to see this one but the box tells me it got pretty ugly during the tail end of this baseball game. I’d have to guess that the resident whiz-kid was wheeling and dealing in regards to the manipulation of his BP. I’m pretty sure it could be termed as something along the lines of genius on parade…He’s always been real good at it.
