Uh, yeah, I mean, what else would I be watching on???And din-din today is a Ribeye steak in the air fryer, some jumbo crinkle cut french fries, a few deviled eggs, an ice cold slushy Mt. Dew, and a chocolate shake for dessert.
I’m watching on a laptop, Rat. I don’t know how to switch this thing over to the TV. I used to be reasonably proficient at solving technical issues back when I was helping to build the pyramids…No more.
Unless a cabal of evil baseball gypsies intervenes, the Cardinals should advance to 9 games over even which would be their high water mark for the season. They should also end the afternoon with a .500 record in games played on the road. I’d also have to say that both of those aforementioned facts are indications of a pretty good baseball team.
And 5 RBI’s in this game generated by LH’ed bats. In these two weekend games Scott/Gorman are a combined 7 for 16 with 2 HR’s, 8 RBI’s and 5 runs scored. And after Gray handed them a furlough in Friday’s game, the BP’s allowed 0 ER’s on only 2 hits in 7 IP’ed. That’s some good work.
Just in the last couple of days I’ve happened to notice that Masyn Wynn leads the team with 52 runs scored. That’s 7 and 8 more runs scored than both Donovan and Nootbar respectively despite Winn having more than 20 less AB’s than either one of those two players. In any case, that’s a really good thing for Winn because runs are pretty important in the game of baseball.
Cards Yards Outpace Guards. We put up a better offensive showing getting the touchdown and keeping the Guards out of the end zone for a 7-0 whitewash.
Another enjoyable one. As is often the case, on a pleasant summer day I have difficulty staying in a relatively cool, dark house sitting around. We have some 5+ months of cold weather around here where about all you can do is sit around, so on nice days I like to get out and about.
I dialed in the radio broadcast on this one and rode the bike around for an hour and a half, then had lunch on the patio listening to the action. When Victor homered to extend the lead I got so excited I had to be careful not to run off the bike path. After that blip earlier in the month we are back playing the way we were in May with good starting pitching and lots of offense. Mikolas was an exception yesterday, but the offense really turned it up a notch.
As 1TD said, this is a good ball club.
They’re either pretty good or they’re providing us with a deceptive impersonation, Bikemike. But even though it’s now on the far side of the half way mark, you know how baseball is. We’ve seen teams perched at near to 20 games above .500 at this time of the season or later, only to hit one of those streaks that can entirely scatter a season. Tomorrow’s another game.
More good news as the Cubbies lose 2-0 to the Astros to now place the Cardinals at 2.5 games off the pace in the NLC.
I also happened to notice that, as of today, the NLC is now the elite division of the Big Leagues with the 5 NLC teams combining for a total of 222 W’s. In second place is the ALE with a combined total of 217 W’s.
One thing that is slightly a bother to me is announcers at times and how little what they say is accurate. Brad and the Guardians guy were talking about how this was Liberatore’s best start of the year, but it wasn’t even top 5 from this year. Liberatore was all over the zone and walked 5 guys and you could tell his command wasn’t there. He did a great job and battled through, but the Guardians hitters helped him out and he had some quick innings because of it.
