Sonny interviewed after the game ensures Pages shares in the accolades. Says the only hit he gave up was the one time he shook off Pages.
Gray was incredibly good and efficient tonight. He got helped a bit by some poor swing decisions, but giving up 1 ground ball hit over 9 with no walks is incredible no matter what.

Really enjoyed this one. Listened to the entire KMOX broadcast out on the patio while cooking up the marinated drumsticks, then dinner on the patio. As I alluded to earlier, a throwback to the days when my dad would tune in the games and we would listen on the patio on a warm summer evening.
We joked a little about the Josh Baez – Joan Baez name similarities. We might want to call tonight’s win “Sonny & Share”. Sonny with the terrific 1 hitter, shared by the offense getting untracked to put five on the board with two home runs, and a couple of RBIs from Arenado.
Excellent start to the road trip. Let’s keeping on rocking and roll through these games in the former rust belt.
Had to watch the Applecast over at my son’s house and obviously Gray worked a turn that was as near to a perfect game as a shutout can get. I’d be surprised if he didn’t claim it was the best 9 innings of his Big League career. In any case, a real nice W that will probably be coupled up with a Cubbies loss as they trail the Astros 7-3 in the 9th at Houston.
