RHP Sonny Gray (7-2, 3.72) vs. RHP Luis Ortiz (4-8, 4.30)
Apple TV+ // KMOXJune 26, 2025 at 11:31 am #285765Great, just great.
This game is the AppleTV game. And Sunday’s game is the ROKU game. I won’t be able to see either one of them. Thank you MLB.
June 26, 2025 at 10:54 pm #285804Just a random thought, but I miss seeing a baserunner going in hard at 2B. There’s an outstanding baseball action photo that features a full speed and airborne Clemente going into 2B as SS Kubek is pictured in a desperate attempt to avoid the trajectory of the great RF’er and get off the throw to 1B in order to make a clean turn and complete a GIDP during the ’60 WS. The photo is nothing short of a spectacular baseball image and when you look closely you can’t hardly help but to feel the heat and taste the dirt. It’s a shame that they don’t make ’em like that anymore.
June 27, 2025 at 3:39 am #2858051TD: I imagine it was a difficult decision, subtracting a great piece of baseball to protect the well-being of the game’s finest players, although they managed to avoid doing so for more than 100 years.
June 27, 2025 at 5:31 am #285807CIF I think the players did a better job of protecting themselves from dirty play than any of today’s rules. Today’s rules robbed us of plays like Dom talks about. And when there are dirty plays there’s nothing they can do about it without hurting their team by getting the pitcher ejected next time dirty player bats.
June 27, 2025 at 10:31 am #285813Yeah, I can understand the effort to protect players from injury. Football especially has put in some rules aimed and keeping guys from being seriously hurt. But the old school game was more intense. I can still hear an audio in my head that is on the Cardinals’ 1967 highlight record, where we threw a guy out at the plate and Harry Caray in his excited way is saying, “….the play went from Tolan, to Javier, to McCarver, who had the plate blocked…” That is how the game was played back in the day. The catcher was like a hockey goalie when a runner was bearing down.
Anyway, an Apple TV game so I will at least do one old school thing and listen to KMOX while putzing around – always think back to my dad and I listening back in the day. A treasured memory, and a big reason I am such a fan today. Sunday, if I watch will be okay as I have Roku – I use Roku as my streaming devices.
Need to grab this one with our ace going.
June 27, 2025 at 11:44 am #285816From a meteorological standpoint it appears there is some rain in the Cleveland area as I am typing this. Which is about 12:40 est.
However, it looks like a smaller cell and should be out of the area soon. After that things look clear in the greater metropolitan Cleveland area and I expect this game to be played tonight. Even though I won’t be able to see it.
There does appear to be some wet stuff heading towards the St. Louis area later today. But the midwest looks okay for the most part. Which means I will be tuning in to the Padres/Reds game from Riverfront Stadium since I can’t view the St. Louis game. Then I might tune in the Cubs/Astros game from the Astrodome in Houston. The Astros are the hottest team in baseball right now. I look for the Cubs to lose two of three down there.
And it is indeed a CCFF. Catfish Fiddlers, mashed potatoes/gravy, green beans, noodles, dressing, maybe some baked fish, sweet iced tea, a piece of cherry pie and some vanilla soft serve ice cream. Then afterwards a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar out on the front porch area.
Oh, and I got two new custom pool cues today. UPS delivered them about 10:00. A Pechauer cue and a Joss cue. Looking forward to trying these out, seeing how they hit and what kind of feel they have.

June 27, 2025 at 1:36 pm #285817Gonna ‘que up some chicken drumsticks on the grill for din-din here this evening. I have them marinating since yesterday, with the marinade from a book called “The John Wayne Way to Bar-be-que.” We will put together some Mac ‘n cheese with it, baked beans and a big garden salad. I will enjoy a cold frosty one while ‘queing.
Looks like Rats will be doing some cueing as well, although the “c” variety. Hope the sticks are winners, Rats!
June 27, 2025 at 2:15 pm #285818I’m a couple of hours past lunch time and pretty hungry, Bikemike, so those drumsticks from the grill sound really good. They’re my favorite part of the yardbird especially when slow cooked on a grill and slathered with some good Q sauce with some baked beans, potato salad and good old cheap and soft style white bread. Throw in a tall glass of iced tea or lemonade and that’s one of my favorite summertime suppers. Talking about that meal now has me so hungry that any bystanders had better keep their arms and legs at a safe distance while I’m heading towards the fridge…Haha!
June 27, 2025 at 4:15 pm #285823Din-din was pretty standard fare tonight, that is standard fare if you’re of a south Texas bent. Started off with the usual ice cold cantaloupe sprinkled with salt, followed with beef enchiladas and refried beans. No pinto beans to be had around here so I had to shmoosh up and spice some French reds as a substitute. We cooled our throats with large amounts of iced tea and finished off with a dish of vanilla ice cream laced with fresh strawberries.
Won’t be watching tonight’s game against Cleveland. Much too late. I’d never stay awake. I’ll catch it on replay tomorrow, unless we get clobbered and I skip the self inflicted pain.
Rah Cardinals!
June 27, 2025 at 4:19 pm #285825I just microwaved 3 cold biscuits.
June 27, 2025 at 4:26 pm #285826About a month ago I triviad the 4 HR game players. When I went back on a Thursday to check if anyone got it That day’s GDT was BLANK! A heading but no entries at all.

June 27, 2025 at 4:47 pm #285831I pound down tall cold glasses of Arnie Palmers diet half and half.
June 27, 2025 at 4:50 pm #285832I have a cold walmart pot pie leftover. I bet airfrying it would bring it back to life nicely. It was a nice week for investors. Maybe tomorrow I go to Culvers.
June 27, 2025 at 5:38 pm #285834Haha!…Not too many meals are as delectable or tastier than a recycled Walmart pot pie. And yeah, Culvers is without question where the movers and shakers gather for fine dining after realizing another windfall as a result of a steep upturn in the futures market…Do they still require a coat and tie?

jj-cf-stlParticipant“I just microwaved 3 cold biscuits”
Thanks for that!😀June 27, 2025 at 6:53 pm #285838
jj-cf-stlParticipantTheir pitcher tried for 3 errors in one inning and it was close.
June 27, 2025 at 7:15 pm #285840Rocky Colavito is one of my all time favorites. I have a great photo of Colavito as a Tiger with Mickey Mantle, signed by both and authenticated. Maybe I will snap a photo of it and upload it to y’all. It is proudly displayed in my home office.
June 27, 2025 at 7:29 pm #285841
jj-cf-stlParticipantBurly is having a month where he can carry a lineup, like last year.
June 27, 2025 at 7:47 pm #285842
jj-cf-stlParticipantSwinging at a worse pitch on strike one, got Scott rang up on a better pitch, called strike three.
June 27, 2025 at 7:54 pm #285843
jj-cf-stlParticipantLol, I’m probably in the wrong game thread! Friday right?
