Just back after a long day down at the ol’ salt mines. Too bad we had that rainout last night, as we would have swept these guys if not for this twin bill.

White Sox had the winning run at 3rd with one out in the last of the 9th and Romero got out of it.

6-6 as we head to the 10th.

Time to go and jog a little. Then check on the skunk traps in my back yard. I think I have one back there. That will leave two more to get rid of. Oh, and it’s a humane trap. They will have to be released.

There are two fundamental truths in baseball…No lead is ever safe and, “youneverknow”…

Arenado gives the Redbirds the lead with the RBI base hit and now the Nootz pads it with the solo tater! Let’s place this one in the books and get out of town.

Wow. Granillo strikes the guy out twice and doesn’t get the call. The ump missed another strike too, but we got the appeal on a check swing.

And he comes back to get the strikeout! I told you that you’d like Granillo! One of my faves!

Granillo with a fantastic job out of the pen. He is our prospect with the best chance at being at the back of a bullpen and I love seeing him get both a win and a save in the same day.

McGreevy also with another good start overall and I’ll say it again he belongs in the rotation over Pallante.

We’re not back to .500 on the road yet, but this series helps the cause (18-21 w/l).
We are 22-14 at home, with seven divisional games to host next.

After trying to throw that game into the fire the Cardinals are fortunate to come away with the W. To have had to settle for a split would have felt almost as bad as dropping both games. At any rate, the Redbirds pick up some wholesale ground on the Cubbies who lost to the Brewers in an 8-7 final at Wrigley.

The W also vaults the Cardinals into a 3 way tie for the coveted, prized and prestigious 3rd WC honors…

McGreevy features 5 IP’ed of outstanding work, but fails to collect a W for his nice effort. I have not a clue why the baseball was plucked from his right hand after only 76 pitches, but maybe the next time he’s cruising along on autopilot with a 5 run lead and the whiz-kid struts out towards the mound, he’ll gesture for him to make a U-turn and head back in the direction of the dugout…

At 1 a.m. and 6-1 I gave it up with a comfortable smile and went to bed. Thank goodness I didn’t remain conscious during our attempt to give the game back to the Sox. I’m getting too old for that kind of aggro.
