6:40 p.m.vs. RHP Shane Burke (3-7, 4.71)
RHP Sonny Gray (7-2, 3.84)
FanDuel // KMOXRained out Wednesday. To start 30-45 min following completion of Thursday’s Game 1, which begins at 1:10 p.m. Michael McGreevy will start after being called up as the 27th man for the day.
June 18, 2025 at 12:20 pm #285037According to the Doppler Radar the Chicago area is about to get clobbered by a great deal of wet stuff this afternoon. Again, the game is 6 hours away yet so hopefully it will move out of the area and we can get this one in.
Here in SW Indiana we are also forecast for rain and storms later this afternoon.
And din din today is the weekly trip to the Gasthof, the Amish restaurant. Fried chicken, fish, mashed potatoes/gravy, noodles, green beans, dressing, sweet potatoes, boiled carrots, sweet iced tea, some cherry cobbler, and some vanilla soft serve ice cream for dessert. Then a 7×50 Palma Real Presidente cigar out on the bench in the front porch area. It might be storming and raining by then, we shall see.

June 18, 2025 at 1:58 pm #285041The Cubbies continue to play well and may be a better team than I’d thought they were. And now with a 7 game lead over the Cardinals they may have indeed widened the gap to a degree that the Redbirds won’t have much of a chance to catch them. This is the reality at a point in the season at which the Cardinals haven’t played a solitary game with them yet which, from my standpoint, is lunacy.

jj-cf-stlParticipantThe wifey has a surf & turf meal planned for game time. I somehow got Red Lobster biscuits included!
We will have Rooney and Horton dialed in. I’m ready for the game and meal now 😀
June 18, 2025 at 3:13 pm #285048Sweet! JJ with the 5 star din-din tonight, which rekindles memories of the surf & turf din-din that Robert De Niro was about to order on an airliner in the hit movie “Midnight Run”. Looks like Rat threw us a bit of a din-din curve by adding boiled carrots into his Wednesday Gasthof meal fit for a king. I’m opting for 2 all beef bologna sandwiches with yellow mustard, baked beans, fritos, whole white milk and some homemade banana bread for a just dessert.
I pray this game doesn’t get washed out. If it does, then we most likely will split a twin bill with these guys tomorrow. We need to win tonight and then tomorrow, so that we can quietly skip town with a sweep under our belts. Burly is looking super good at the dish. He’s been able to pull that high inside heat with authority……crazy.

June 18, 2025 at 4:23 pm #285054I will have double duty tonight. Flipping back and forth between the Cards/Sox game and my Razorbacks vs LSU in the CWS. Hopefully both teams wearing red will bring home the victory.
June 18, 2025 at 4:40 pm #285055The Doppler Radar shows a lot of green stuff in the greater Chicago area. And it appears more is on the way. Chances are good there will either be a postponement or a delay in this one tonight as first pitch is only two hours away now.
Pugs?
I was sitting out front of the Gasthof having a cigar after my feast today and this hot gal (40s) and her mom came out and sat down on the bench on the other side of the door. It was storming and raining so I went over to chat with them. When I asked them where they were from they said – of all places – MILWAUKEE!June 18, 2025 at 4:52 pm #285056Based on your descriptions, sounds to me like there’s a high probability that those two were Front Row Amy and her lovely mother, Back Row Betty, Rat. I hope you invited them back for din-din tonight…….on them of course. I come from a family where it’s commonplace for the lady to pay at restaurants and not the gentlemen. The women also are expected to pull our chairs out to seat us and of course open all doors for us.
June 18, 2025 at 5:01 pm #285057I’d say the lineup looks pretty good. The Nootz has to play his way onto the field just like everyone else and I don’t think Donovan’s mitt diminishes the D in LF too much at all. Nootbar’s 1 for 33 with 15 K’s in his last 10 games, and 5 for 47 for the month of June. I’m aware that he’s the one and only Nootz, but he has to sit until the curse is lifted.
June 18, 2025 at 5:22 pm #285059Curse?
Nudie Bar is cursed??
What curse???
He’s a career .240 hitter. He’s about where he should be.
What do people think, all of a sudden he’s going to be a .335 hitter???
June 18, 2025 at 5:28 pm #285060Game has already been postponed.
So have the Brewers and Cubs.
June 18, 2025 at 5:34 pm #285062Yeah, he can’t even say .240 right now. In fact 1 for 33 says a 0.03 BA for his last 10 games. That’s a very strong indication that an evil baseball gypsy has dropped a spider right smack dab into the mustard on his hot dog…It’s a very bad thing.
June 18, 2025 at 6:25 pm #285063Great, just great.
Now the Twins and Reds are in a rain delay at Riverfront Stadium.
I guess the only game I will get to see tonight will be the Padres and Doyers from Doyer Stadium.
June 18, 2025 at 6:28 pm #285064I hear you, Rat. May I suggest some Streets of San Francisco reruns, Rat? I’m watching Season 1 of the original “The Addams Family” as we speak.
June 19, 2025 at 1:37 pm #285101Well after my Arkansas team did their latest Bill Buckner impersonation last night in the CWS I am ready to see a Cardinal victory today. How about let’s win two?
June 19, 2025 at 4:14 pm #285126McGreevy on the hill for Game 2 tonight.
June 19, 2025 at 4:53 pm #285130Gorman is DH, not 2B.

June 19, 2025 at 5:36 pm #285132A 3-run dong by Burleson and a solo dong by Arenado have the Cards up 4-1 after three innings.
This would be a good time for the team to get hot with the Reds and Cubs coming up for seven games the next seven days.
June 19, 2025 at 6:33 pm #285133Just got dialed back in after getting in 4 hours of needed yardwork before the weather switches over to something similar to the Congo this weekend. Looking at the box I see a late comeback with Contreras leading the way to the W in game 1 and a nice 9th inning from Helsley. Obviously he’ll have to be consistently effective if the Cardinals are going to compete. Game 2 looks to be on auto-pilot but, no lead is ever safe until the final’s called in to the league office in NY. Most definitely need to work the broom before returning to StL. later this evening.
June 19, 2025 at 6:34 pm #285134Redbirds now lead 6-1 heading to the 7th inning stretch.
Barring a complete bullpen collapse this one should belong to the Redbirds.
June 19, 2025 at 6:44 pm #285135The White Sox are rallying. They have runners at the corners and one out in the last of the 7th.
June 19, 2025 at 6:50 pm #285136And now the White Sox have tied this game 6-6.
King and Leahy have combined to blow this one in the 7th. Leahy gave up a grand slam to Benitendi.
This one will be a tough one to lose and ruin momentum going into this weekend series with the Reds.
Pitiful…….
June 19, 2025 at 6:52 pm #285137King and Leahy can kiss my grits!
Trash job by those 2 bums!
June 19, 2025 at 7:13 pm #285139It’s now 6-6 heading to the 9th.
Scott
Donovan
Contreras
are due up.They desperately need to win this game. Can’t afford to blow 6-1 late leads.
