I’m afraid I must bow to the Rat’s analysis of the situation. Perhaps the bats themselves have been secretly doctored by the enemy causing an epidemic level of the hitless virus. We should do a complete examination of Herrera and Burleson to see how they have escaped the infection.

I mean, the Cards will win some more games but the six game losing streak has probably done irreparable damage to their playoff chances.

They are still above .500 though but this year just feels like most of the past decade – pretty average baseball at the end of the day.

They are not horrible but neither are they very good.

Yep, we are in a full-fledged June Swoon. Losing several one-run games, can’t put much offense together, starting pitching is mediocre, bullpen shaky, and of course we have a manager who has learned on the job and a probably better than his first couple of seasons, but nowhere near awe inspiring.

Can we get back to the productive machine of earlier in the year? It will take a much better Lars Nootbaar (or someone in the leadoff spot), a Victor Scott of early on, a still healthy and productive Brendan Donovan, and probably a little better Nolan Arenado and Willson Contreras. Plus better consistency from the starters, and a return to form of Ryan Helsley.

Not too mention better 6th through 8th inning pitching.

That is a lot to ask for.

Let’s see the hands of all others here whom are still bullish on our 2025 Birds. It’s still going to be a fun season chock full of thrilling victories. This little 6 game skid is merely a bump in the long winding road that leads us smack dab in the middle of the playoff picture come September.

And what’s for din-din one may ask? It’s a trip over to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse for their prime rib(medium rare), mushrooms, baked potato and small salad, heavily laden with cheese, onions and 1000 island dressing. And your prime rib bites must be dipped into melted butter to enjoy maximum flavor. Then take a wild guess where I’m heading afterwards? Yep, it’s a jog on over to the Popeye’s drive thru lane to snatch not 1……not 2…….not even 3 of their scrumptious apple cinnamon pies……but rather 4 on this fine Saturday. Was slated to attend this afternoon’s game, but instead am going to Sunday’s affair. Go Birds!

    Pugs?

The Cardinals broadcast showed a close up of Front Row Amy last night.

Did you see that? I sure did..:)

An ordinary but delicious din-din tonight – a cold slice of cantaloupe, followed by my best replica of Mom’s great spaghetti bolognaise and a nice salad of lettuce, tomato and onions, wrapping up with a dish of fresh strawberries.

As for the Cardinals, I certainly wish them well as always but I think they have been taking too seriously that good ol’ Johnny Cash number “Don’t Take Your Guns to Town.” They’ve been leaving their guns at home as Mom asks and getting blown away anyhow. Perhaps they should try it with pistoleros.

First pitch is at 10:15 p.m. my time. I doubt I’ll make it nine innings.

While i never had high expectations for this years squad, i do feel this could just be a minor bump in the road but we will see. I do feel the reds are making a good push. I felt that francona would eventually get them turned around. The cardinals messed up in my eyes with him. He knows the game and while i dont consider him great, i do think hes one of those guys who gets the better out of less.

Nice play by the Brewer CF’er to throw out Herrera trying to advance to 3B. That play obvioulsy may have put the damper on a big 1st inning. That’s why I don’t like the challenge rule…

Walker not wasting any time with a base hit in his first PA after returning to action.

Now Pages follows up with a base hit. Two on and no outs for Scott.

    Edit; Whoops…1 out.

Quintana dispatches Scott with the K looking. Need a 2 out RBI hit from Winn.

Quiet in here today. I guess that’s what happens after 6 consecutive losses.

The Redbird manager’s getting real close to the ol’ heave ho. Maybe he’ll get run. I’ll take all the help we can get…

Another day of agenda umpiring. Maybe its not fanduel, today is all about payback to our dugout. Maybe its an Oli agenda. He chirps a lot.

Pallante had a great 4 innings but when the offense gives you 7 runs you have to be an able to get through the fifth. I’m past ready to swap him for McGreevy (or Matz).

    7-4 now in the 6th.

This one is far from over.

And my two skunks are back in my yard again.

Yeah Pallante looked masterful the first 4 and horrible the 5th. I don’t know what it will take for the team to give McGreevy a consistent run though.

Also, has anyone else felt Pages behind the plate has really been lacking in the blocking department lately? He has dropped multiple strokes lately even including the one for Chourio to score today.

Gorman at least has been playing much better lately which is desperately needed for the offense. Walker continues where he left off and maybe he can keep it up as well.

    Gorman?
Hes already got many of our regulars in his rear view, by ops.
Willie, Burly and Herrera are higher tho. Good luck selling Gorman around here 😀

Milwaukee threatening again in the last of the 7th.

Redbirds will be lucky to hang on and win this one.

This could be the toughest loss of the year if they lose.

It could spell doom for the 2025 season.

    UPDATE:
Hoskins grounded out with two on and two out. Still 7-4 after seven.

Gorman has a walk and home run vs left handed pitching today. Where is Vilade when you need him for lefties? Idiots with blinders.
