Donovan is not in the lineup as the Cards try to avoid being swept at home. Jays have won 10 of their last 12.

That looks like our vs a RH starter lineup. Three losses in a row can usually coax some tweeking of a lineup, by most managers, but in our case a decent game pitched today would go a long way.

Tough to lose 5-4 and then 10-9. Toronto is playing well though – but a good team will rebound from those kind of games and avoid a sweep. Let’s see if this club can do that. Hope Donovan is not out long.

Well I got a couple hours mowing in. Now the fan and the radio are welcome companions (I hope).

Dr Pozo and Libby as the battery. A hot TOR lineup won’t matter. 5 or 6 IP from Libby, maybe, after hitting the fatigue wall his last couple starts.

Cards up 1-0 after one inning.

After going 4-6 in our last 10 games we really need this one today. You can kind of feel the season starting to slip away.

Just tuned in to see that the bats have staked Liberatore to a 2 run lead. That should be plenty…

Ball off the bag single, scores.

    Sac fly ties it 2-2
59 pitches after 4 would be good, instead its after 3 IP for Libby.

Now the ball off the bag is changed to an error. Must have seemed like a “routine” play to our scorekeeper. Or, its more about Libby’s now “unearned” runs.

    4-2 TOR
75 pitches for Libby. Pulling him should be under consideration.

Libby isn’t fooling anyone today. This Toronto lineup is legit though.

I enjoyed it better when our starting pitchers were all good. Maybe we should turn back time.

Unless the Cardinal bats can get him off the hook, this will be the third consecutive losing decision for Liberatore which would place him at 3-6 on the season. His simple pitching line for today’s turn is 5 ER’s allowed in 5 IP’ed, which inches his season ERA up to just a shade shy of 4.00. Although, at 25 years of age and still young, he’s now 11-17 with a lackluster 4.68 ERA for his Big League career and he continues to look like the same pitcher that I first laid eyes on in ’22. How long do the Cardinals stay with him if he doesn’t show any signs of improvement?

I don’t think Libby now, is the same pitcher as his past. What he has shown this season is worth “staying with”, going forward.

In 24′ he threw 86 IP total. Hes at 73 IP now, in less than half a season. He will need managed to survive this IP spike, but getting there is necessary to prepare for his 2026 workload as a SP.
