It sounds like it was expected earlier today that McGreevy would get at least spot starts. I don’t want them to be spot starts though and want them to be consistent. At least he can get an opportunity to show he clearly deserves the rotation spot and maybe just dominate to take Pallante’s spot.
I guess the notion that it’s wise to take a pitch or two when a pitcher enters a game from the BP is an idea that’s been scrapped.
The Cardinals had baserunners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the home half of the 6th and KC managed to escape that jam with a total of 2 pitches. You have to make the opposition work a little bit.
Nooty robbed by Isbel (great description of him, TD)in center to leadoff the Cardinal 8th…..we needed that baserunner bad.
I didn’t think there was any way Isbel was going to be able to cover enough ground to get to that line drive from Nootbar. Nice play by the CF’er.
Tough to lose a game in which you held a 5 run lead. It’s almost like losing twice. What’s almost as bad is that the Cubbies continue to hang W’s up on the board.
Catching up, glad I slept through last night’s game. That would have had me reaching for the Rolaids (or in France, the Rennies). The box, at least, showed a bit of offense.
Pugs: Nice of you to think of me as a SS. I would have loved it but I didn’t have quite that level of agility. I was mostly CF, lonely out there among the bleacher bums.
Yeah, barring a hideous collapse it sure looks like the Cubs will take the division this year.
There is still a long way to go but wow do they look good.

You’ve got to win those games where you score 7 runs, especially when you are up early.
Pallante simply looks like a guy who’s a back end starter and nothing more. We have Mikolas and Pallante who depend on control and limiting hard contact, and it really seems random as to who does it better for any given stretch. Right now, it’s Mikolas. McGreevy could be in the same boat, although he seems to be missing more bats as he matures.
Don’t sleep on Pallante. He’s tweaked himself to get better vs Right Handed batters but in the process, he’s overcompensated a bit. He’s still gathering data on how to be the most effective. Now he’ll tweak back the other way some. The only thing I worry about him is his control is still a little below average. He’s needs to improve there and he could be an elite starter.
