Winn rips a leadoff double to left center to get things cooking here in the top of the 7th. No sophomore slump in this guy. Donny pops out to SS. Oh no……it may be Kitty time, which would put the kabosh on us scoring any runs this inning……oh goodie they’re not bringing Kitty in yet. Contreras bounces out slowly to SS and now it’s Kitty time….well we won’t score this inning.
This is not the Kitty we all came to know and love. Kind of wondering if he subconsciously isn’t giving it his all vs his ex-mates?
Kitty claws his way out of a base loaded pickle. Well they got 1 run for Albert this inning making it 6-4 Cards heading to the bottom of the 7th.
Whenever I think Baltimore I think of that great old Richard Dreyfuss-Danny DeVito-Bruno Kirby movie, “Tin Men”. What a fun watch!
You know nothing would prevent the Cards from trading for Kitty this deadline. The Orioles will be out of it. I know Pugs would be willing to make this deal.
Winn laces a 2 out base hit to right….his 4th hit on the evening. This fellow is a prime candidate to hit for the cycle……probably coming to a stadium near you soon. Donny doubles with Winn applying the brakes at 3rd and that will put an end to Kitty’s evening. Again, this is not the Kitty we all know and cherish. Enter Dominguez.
Oh wow look at those empty seats down the left field line. If I were there I’d be camped out over there looking for a foul ball…..even at my age. And if I did get one and some little kiddie came over with tears in his eyes looking to get that ball……he’d be totally and unequivocally out of luck. I might even do what Luis Tiant did to me when I was a little shaver….pretend like I was going to flip the souvenir ball to the little rascal…..and then keep the ball myself……and then pray a bit that my mocking wasn’t on the big JumboThon.
Jojo with a good job in the 8th. I’m not surprised the stands are empty with the rain delay and heavy rain from the 1st few innings.
That’s 4 full innings of real nice work from the BP to set Helsley up to record the final 3 outs. That little poodle under JoJo’s cap is getting to be unhittable…Don’t let that little guy run off.
If the Rockies lose at Wrigley tonight, they’ll be on pace to win 21 games this season. That’s a protracted bloodbath.
1TD, I think there are some AAA teams that would have a better record than the Rockies this year. I just don’t know how it is possible for them to be so bad. It seems like they would just happen into a few more wins than they have won.
Rockies are going to be swept, but they played the cubbies pretty tough in Wrigley. I don’t think Chicago scored more than 3 runs in any of the 3 games.
Well Helsley makes it interesting but pulls it out. The top of the order and the pen did great jobs tonight. Thankfully an off day tomorrow to make up for the short 4 inning start to rest the pen arms.
