Although the Orioles occupy last place in ALE, yesterday’s W over the Cardinals gives them 3 in a row and some momentum. Additionally, this Tommy Sugaree sports some pretty nice pitching numbers that run clear across the board, so the Cardinals won’t be gifted any lay downs in this game. And concerning last place teams, the Rockies are now on pace to win precisely 27 games this season. That’s way beyond brutal.
Words cannot adequately describe the importance of this game to the 2025 St. Louis Cardinals. No this is not just one of one hundred & sixty-two games,each game carrying equal weight. Some games are pivotal as to which direction a team is likely to take after it’s conclusion. This is one of those games. This is a contest that our boys need to win. In anticipation of tonight’s affair, I find myself plagued by the same nervousness as if this were a Game 7 playoff game.
What’s for din-din one may ask? It’s a trip over to Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse shortly. I’m thinking baked chicken tonight. Baked chicken needs to be dipped into melted butter, just as if they were Alaskan King Crab Legs. I’ll most likely add asparagus spears and a baked potato to the equation and then to top things off, on the way home I’ll swing on through the Popeye’s drive thru lane to snag myself not one….not two…..but three apple cinnamon pies.
Lots of rain along the eastern seaboard tonight. And there is lots of rain in the Baltimore area. And the Doppler Radar shows more on the way.
I am going to assume this game will be postponed. We will be lucky if it isn’t. Or we might be lucky if it is.

Gravel Thievery #2 will be in session later tonight, after dark.The game has started. Cards got a run in the 1st on four (4) hits.
But Arenado came up with the bases loaded and one out. And on the first pitch hit a little weak pop fly that barely made it past the pitchers mound. The guy is absolutely worthless in any kind of clutch situation. I will be glad when the trade deadline comes and goes and he is gone with his $30M salary.
I guess it could have been worse. He could have hit another one of his little weak groundballs for a DP.
Weak groundballs and weak pop flyballs. That’s all he’s good for. Then he acts mad and slams his bat down.

Nooty throttles a 2 run bomb making it 3-0 Good Guys through 1 1/2. So far our boys are passing the test in this crucial game.

Presently en route home from Popeye’s drive-thru………can’t wait to do a little game threading tonight.
Man, had Gorman been ready to jump on that first pitch it would be 5-0. That pitch was teed up! Instead he swings at the second pitch down and in and grounded to first. Gotta be ready to jump on those pitches you can put a charge in.
We all had such high hopes of what Gorman could do in this game. Wonder what happened to him?
3-1 Birds in the bottom of the 5th.
If Burleson’s 1B mitt scoops and squeezes that throw from Winn, the inning’s over and it’s still 3-0. I don’t think Hernandez missed one of those in his entire 17 year career. In any event, Winn’s exeptional arm got the throw over to 1B in time to complete the GIDP.
Pallante with an emphatic balk…..Lucky he didn’t hurt himself on that one. Orioles straddling 2nd & 3rd…..oh oh…..oh no!…..O’Hearn ramrods a 3 run shot and Baltimore goes on top 4-3…..ouch that hurt.
If those Orioles are smoking what I think they’re smoking in that waterpipe, it explains why they’re in last place.
Pallante is lucky to not be hurt on that bad of a balk.
Unfortunately the Orioles take the lead on a 3 run HR from a meatball down the middle to a very hot hitter.
Can Gorman just place the bat on the ball to tie up the game? Well and not pop it up. Gorman is making a lot more contact, but he is popping up a lot
As I keep telling everyone……this team doesn’t have anybody that can hit.

Now Pallante is letting Mateo get jumps so big he is halfway to the bag before he even throws the ball. I think the steal of 2nd Mateo may have been 3/4ths the way there before Pallante even threw
